UNLABELLED: We describe a technique for sutureless intrascleral fixation of a 3-piece intraocular lens (IOL) and custom silicone iris prosthesis complex to address the optical and functional issues of aphakia and aniridia, as well as to restore excellent cosmesis. The 3-piece IOL is anchored to the iris prosthesis using the belt-loop technique. We believe the intrascleral haptic fixation is overall a more robust fixation method in patients with aphakia and aniridia, who are often younger and require a long-lasting anterior segment reconstruction.

Problems in the amputation stump occur frequently in lower limb amputees. These problems can range from skin defects to serious vascular insufficiency and have a major impact on the amputee's quality of life. We illustrate this with 2 patients aged 20 and 65. PURPOSE: To report on the use of Densiron (heavy silicone oil), a new endotamponade agent with proposed benefits in complex retinal detachments involving inferior proliferative vitreoretinopathy.
METHOD: Retrospective case note review.
RESULTS: Ten cases (10 eyes) in which Densiron was used in eyes which had failed initial retinal detachment surgery. The overall success rate of long-term total reattachment was 70%. A retrospective review of all patients with a cytomegalovirus (CMV) related retinal detachment and HIV infection managed at the ocular immunology clinic at St Vincent's Hospital between January 1985 and June 1992 was performed. A modification of the Abbe-McIndoe technique for the treatment of congenital absence of the vagina, using a cylindrical tissue expander wrapped in a mesh split-thickness skin graft, instead of a rigid silicone mold, is presented.
