OBJECTIVE: Pathogenic factors that reduce corneal biomechanical properties (CBPs) remain unclear. This study aimed to retrospectively analyze the effect of allergic predisposition on CBPs in normal corneas.

BACKGROUND: Dupilumab and tralokinumab are interleukin-binding monoclonal antibodies used to treat systemic atopic disease. Use of these medications in management of atopic dermatitis (AD) is known to cause conjunctivitis. Dupilumab therapy has also been associated with more severe ocular surface disease, which has not previously been described in association with tralokinumab. This report describes a case of tralokinumab-associated conjunctivitis and peripheral ulcerative keratitis and reviews the spectrum and proposed mechanisms of ocular surface disease triggered by these medications.

Different monoclonal antibodies have been used for the treatment of Netherton's syndrome (NS); secukinumab (anti-IL17A), infliximab (anti-TNF-α), ustekinumab (anti p40 subunit of IL-12 and IL-23), omalizumab (anti-IgE), and dupilumab (anti-IL4 and IL13). We report two sisters with severe NS who were treated with omalizumab in one and with secukinumab in the other. Granuloma annulare (GA) is a cutaneous inflammatory disorder of unknown cause, typically characterized by an annular arrangement of dermal papules and nodules. While GA in adults has been linked to diabetes mellitus (DM) and other conditions, these associations have been less studied in children. A retrospective chart review was conducted of all pediatric patients diagnosed with GA at an urban academic institution over a 7-year period. A total of 47 patients were reviewed. AIM: To assess the incidence and associated signs and symptoms of patients with keratoconus in Asir Province, Saudi Arabia.
METHODS: 125 new keratoconus patients (51 male, 74 female; mean age 18.5 (SD 3.8) years; range 8--28 years) were recruited from referrals to the department of ophthalmology, Asir Central Hospital, over a 1 year period. To investigate the effect of grenz rays on the expression of allergic contact dermatitis, six patients hypersensitive to nickel were studied. They were given 3 Gy of grenz rays, once a week for 3 weeks, to a defined area of the back.
