The authors describe a case of the development of a pyosalpinx from a preexisting hydrosalpinx after uterine artery embolization (UAE) for leiomyomata. Laparoscopic surgery has developed quickly and is preferred over laparotomy for most surgery in female infertility. In vitro fertilization (IVF) has emerged as the main treatment for tubal infertility, but surgery still has a definite place. BACKGROUND: Neuropathic pain arises when there is damage to or dysfunction of the nervous system. Diabetic neuropathy, postherpetic neuralgia and phantom limb pain are common types of neuropathic pain. It is not commonly recognized in gynecologic practice.
CASE: A patient underwent a hysterectomy for a tuboovarian abscess and underlying endometriosis. Despite maximal dosing with conventional pain medications, she continued to have significant pain that had not been present following prior surgeries. Use of low-dose amitriptyline successfully treated the pain, with no sequelae.

PURPOSE OF REVIEW: The investigation of the infertile couple is currently a highly debated issue. The purpose is to review whether transvaginal hydrolaparoscopy in combination with mini-hysteroscopy and chromopertubation can be offered as a one-stop infertility investigation.

Mediastinal metastasis of ovarian tumors are not rare as autopsy findings. Ovarian carcinomas usually spread by transcaelomic, lymphatic or haematogenous dissemination to peritoneum, pelvic and para-aortic lymph nodes, lung and pleura. A case of mediastinal metastasis of ovarian carcinoma is reported. A retrosternal mass was identified by CT scan and resected by VTC surgery.

Fecal steroid analysis was used to investigate relationships between endocrine parameters and embryo characteristics in domestic cats subjected to chorionic gonadotropin stimulation and artificial insemination (AI). SETTING: University-based IVF program.
PATIENT(S): A woman with tubal subfertility and a history of difficult ETs.
INTERVENTION(S): Transvaginal transmyometrial ET performed to avoid a difficult transcervical ET.
MAIN OUTCOME MEASURE(S): Expected improvement in the pregnancy rate in a selected group of patients.
RESULT(S): Tubal pregnancy.
CONCLUSION(S): Transmyometrial ET is an attractive alternative to difficult transcervical ET but is not free of complications.

Reproductive organs were collected from one slaughterhouse and culling data were obtained from Finnish swine herd records to determine the types and frequencies of various fertility disturbances in Finnish female pigs.
