OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to characterize the anatomy of aortopulmonary collateral (APC) arteries in tetralogy of Fallot and pulmonary stenosis and to determine whether APC density identified on preoperative multidetector cardiac computed tomography predicts in-hospital outcome.

OBJECTIVE: To differentiate imaging characteristics of celiac ganglia from metastatic lesion on positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET-CT) in patients with lung cancer and correlate these findings to postmortem multidetector row computed tomography (MDCT).
METHODS: One hundred twenty-nine patients were included. Imaging characteristics and fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) avidity of the celiac ganglia were recorded. Postmortem MDCT of 20 subjects were reviewed.

A 52-year-old man underwent lung cancer screening with low-dose spiral computed tomography (CT) in a medical check-up at the Japanese Red Cross Kumamoto Health Care Center. He was asymptomatic. Aorto-esophageal fistula (AEF) is a rare and life threatening condition, which can be rapidly fatal. More than half of such cases are secondary to aortic aneurysm rupture. There are only two previous reports describing AEF caused by penetrating atherosclerotic ulcer. A single left coronary artery is an extremely rare congenital anomaly that is commonly associated with other congenital cardiac malformations. We present a case involving a single left coronary artery and coronary sinus anomaly demonstrated on coronary angiography and multidetector computed-tomography angiography. To the best of our knowledge, this rare combination has not been reported previously.

A quadricuspid aortic valve is rare and often incidentally found by echocardiography, surgically, or on post mortem examination. Aortic regurgitation is common and if severe enough can lead to symptoms of dyspnea. We report a case of a quadricuspid aortic valve, which was found by cardiac multidetector computed tomography during a pre-operative assessment for severe aortic regurgitation.

Abdominal aorta aneurysm rupture is a potential lethal complication and is surgical emergency. In addition, formation of a portal vein and abdominal aorta fistula is a possible, very rare complication that enforces complicated surgical management.
