This uncommon distribution was related to the dissemination of enterically transmitted agents in the aftermath of El Nino events disturbing the Horn of Africa. We report the case of an 18-month-old infant with severe serotype 3 adenovirus pneumonia, exceptionally associated with hemophagocytic syndrome. The article considers molecular genetic characteristic of RNA of human enterovirus detected in bio-test from child with serous meningitis. The nucleotide sequence of genome DNA is analyzed. In 98% it is identical to corresponding nucleotide sequences of strains of human enterovirus A serotype 71 detected in China.

A four-year old child was admitted with signs and symptoms suggestive of enteric fever. Blood culture and serial stool cultures were undertaken. Weltevreden, a rare Salmonella serotype was isolated from the stool samples. The isolate was sensitive to ampicillin, cefotaxime, gentamicin, chloramphenicol and ciprofloxacin.

A domestic ferret was presented for episodic regurgitation. Cytologic examination and culture of an enlarged submandibular lymph node revealed Cryptococcus neoformans variety grubii (serotype A). The ferret was successfully treated with itraconazole. This is the first documented case of Cryptococcus neoformans variety grubii in a ferret in the United States.
