In this study, two different semen cryopreservation protocols were compared to freeze goat semen. The ejaculates (n=12) were collected by using electro-ejaculator from six mature bucks (two ejaculates per each buck). High temperatures have negative effects on sperm quality leading to temporary or permanent sterility. The study tried to confirm the harmful effects of high temperatures on epididymal sperm cells in comparison with other temperatures (scrotal, environmental, and refrigeration temperatures), the main objective was the assessment of the addition of retinol as an antioxidant agent to improve sperm quality parameters. OBJECTIVE: To explore the relationship of sperm DNA damage with unexplained recurrent spontaneous abortion (URSA).
METHODS: Sperm DNA fragmentation was evaluated by sperm chromatin dispersion (SCD), and the results were expressed in terms of DNA fragmentation index (DFI). DFIs were measured in the male partners of 56 women with URSA (the experiment group) and of 31 without URSA (the control group).
