The breakage-fusion-bridge cycle is a classical mechanism of telomere-driven genome instability in which dysfunctional telomeres are fused to other chromosomal extremities, creating dicentric chromosomes that eventually break at mitosis. Here, we uncover a distinct pathway of telomere-driven genome instability, specifically occurring in cells that maintain telomeres with the alternative lengthening of telomeres mechanism. Wolbachia are required for filarial nematode survival and fertility and contribute to the immune responses associated with human filarial diseases. Here we developed whole-mount immunofluorescence techniques to characterize Wolbachia somatic and germline transmission patterns and tissue distribution in Brugia malayi, a nematode responsible for lymphatic filariasis. In the initial embryonic divisions, Wolbachia segregate asymmetrically such that they occupy only a small subset of cells in the developing embryo, facilitating their concentration in the adult hypodermal chords and female germline.

Polyclonal antibody was used to partially characterize REP38, a major rabbit epididymal secretory protein. Tumors resembling tenosynovial giant cell tumor (TGCT) but additionally forming chondroid matrix are rare and most often involve the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). Hybridization of mutant cell lines deficient in hypoxanthine-guanine phosphoribosyl transferase (HGPRT; E.C.: 2.4.2.8) from a variety of established rodent sources with HGPRT plus human cells yielded progeny cells which grew in selective medium containing hypoxanthine, aminopterin and thymidine (HAT).
