Phytoremediation is a green technology for the remediation of contaminated ecosystems by using plants. In the present study, a hydroponic experiment was conducted to investigate the phytoremediation potential of eight canola (Brassica napus L.) cultivars for hexavalent chromium [Cr(VI)]. Chromium significantly affected dry weight, lipid peroxidation, chlorophylls, non-protein thiol and antioxidant enzymes. The RAF proteins (A-RAF, B-RAF et C-RAF) are a family of kinases that play a key role in the regulation of various aspects of cell physiology, among which cell proliferation, differentiation and survival. We review the literature regarding their anti-apoptotic effects, and we summarize the current view regarding how alterations in these mechanisms contribute to human carcinogenesis. The design, synthesis, and biological evaluation of phosphoramide derivatives as urease inhibitors to reduce the loss of ammonia has been carried out. A series of mono-, di-, and tri-guanidinylated derivatives of neamine were prepared via selective guanidinylation of neamine. These molecules represent a novel scaffold as inhibitors of anthrax lethal factor zinc metalloprotease. Methods for the synthesis of these compounds are described, and structure-activity relationships among the series are analyzed. In addition, initial findings regarding the mechanism of LF inhibition for these molecules are presented.

Entamoeba histolytica is a human intestinal parasite that causes amoebic colitis as well as liver abscesses. Host tissues are damaged through a three-step process involving adherence, contact-dependent cytolysis, and phagocytosis. These three processes all contribute to the pathogenicity of this parasite.
