The "pulmorenal syndrome" is a clinically defined syndrome under which one summarises disease entities with acute renal failure due to acute glomerulonephritis and alveolar lung hemorrhage. PURPOSE: To investigate the cat vitreomacular interface using trypan blue (TB) and indocyanine green (ICG) and to determine the validity of the cat model in terms of staining and peeling of the internal limiting membrane (ILM).
METHODS: Lensectomy and vitrectomy were performed in four eyes of two cats. The ILM of two eyes was stained with TB (0.15%). ILM peeling was performed in one eye. Two eyes were stained with ICG (0.5%). One eye was illuminated for 3 min. Light and transmission electron microscopy and confocal microscopy were performed.

Forty-six patients from 23 Indian families with hereditary chronic nephritis (HCN) with or without Alport's syndrome are presented. The occurrence of this disease in diverse Indian races, communities and castes is now documented. The local response pattern of immunoglobulin-containing cells was compared in Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis by paired immunohistochemistry on specimens of the large bowel wall. In the "Crohn mucosa" with persisting glands the total cell count was on the average raised more than three times compared with controls. The numbers of IgA, IgM and IgG immunocytes were increased 2.0, 4.8 and 28.6 times, respectively. Only 0-2 IgD- and IgE-containing cells were generally found per section.
