Median arcuate ligament syndrome (MALS) is rare syndrome and is diagnosis of exclusion. Though first robotic median arcuate ligament release (MALR) was described in 2007, there are only a few case reports (CR), case series (CS), and retrospective cohort studies (RCS) in the published literature. The purpose of this study was to assess the feasibility and safety of robotic-assisted MALR (r-MALR). PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane databases were searched (last search December 2023) for articles reporting r-MALR. All studies including CR, CS, RCS reporting technical feasibility (operating time and rat

To evaluate the safety and feasibility of continued perioperative aspirin at the time of robotic assisted simple prostatectomy (RASP). We performed a retrospective review of our IRB approved institutional database of patients who underwent RASP between 2013 and 2022. Comparative groups included patients taking aspirin in the perioperative period and those not taking aspirin pre-operatively. The primary outcome was any post-operative bleeding related complication using the modified Clavien-Dindo classification. Secondary outcomes included the identification of risk factors for increased blood l

BACKGROUND: The distribution of bone cement after percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP) affects its clinical efficacy in patients with osteoporosis. Robotic and traditional treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCFs) have both been established as effective, but no studies have compared these 2 modalities in terms of bone cement distribution and clinical outcomes.
OBJECTIVE: To compare the bone cement distribution and clinical efficacy of robot-assisted percutaneous kyphoplasty to those of fluoroscopy-assisted percutaneous kyphoplasty for the treatment of OVCFs.
SETTING: Depart

Osteopetrosis, a rare condition arising from osteoclast dysfunction, is characterised by increased bony density and obliteration of the intramedullary canal. While total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is preferred for osteoarthritic patients with osteopetrosis, inherent disease characteristics pose surgical challenges. This article presents a patient with osteopetrosis treated with robotic arm-assisted TKA (RA-TKA). This approach provided precise bone resection, obviates the need for intramedullary guides, minimizes saw disposal, and reduces surgical duration, with satisfactory short-term outcomes. R

STUDY OBJECTIVE: Pelvic exenteration (PE) is an aggressive surgical procedure that implies a large hard-to-fill pelvic defect. Different reconstruction techniques were proposed to improve abdominal organ support and reduce complications (infections, pelvic organs herniation, vaginal stump dehiscence, bowel prolapse and obstruction) [1], with conflicting results [2]. Because of young age and survival greater than 50% at 5 years in patients with no residual tumor after surgery [3], a new approach with better clinical results to pelvic reconstruction is needed.
DESIGN: The aim of this surgical f

Buccal mucosal graft (BMG) ureteroplasty, particularly with the anterior-onlay technique, shows promise for treating complex ureteral strictures. However, long and circumferential strictures remain challenging. This study aimed to present the surgical technique of the posterior-inlay and anterior-onlay technique in robotic ureteroplasty with a BMG (RU-BMG). A 37-year-old male patient with a medical background of failed laparoscopic ureteroplasty and multiple endourological interventions was admitted to our hospital. Preoperative anterograde and retrograde pyelography revealed a 5-cm ureteral s

It is known that over half of previously surveyed surgeons performing Robot-Assisted Laparoscopic Surgery (RALS) and three-quarters of those performing Traditional Laparoscopic Surgery (TLS) experience intraoperative pain. This survey study aimed to expand upon the ongoing impact of that pain as well as perceived tool usability associated with TLS and RALS, for which considerably less documentation exists. A survey regarding the presence and impact, either immediate or ongoing, of intraoperative pain and Likert scale questions regarding tool usability was administered to TLS and RALS surgeons

This study describes patient-reported outcomes of robot-assisted percutaneous scaphoid fracture fixation of 62 patients from two medical centres and the learning curve of this new technique. One attempt to place the guidewire was sufficient in 97% of cases. All fractures achieved radiographic union at a mean of 9 weeks. There were no complications observed. At a mean follow-up of 36 months (range 12-68 months), the mean patient-rated wrist evaluation (PRWE) was 2 (range 0-22) and the mean Mayo Wrist Score was 96 (range 70-100). After the initial ten to 20 cases, the learning phase was reasonab

This study compares wrist motion, biomechanical behaviour and radiographic parameters before and after total wrist arthroplasty using a fourth-generation spherical articulation prosthesis. A total of 10 cadaveric specimens were assessed using a hexapod Stewart platform robot. After arthroplasty, there were significant increases in both stiffness and phase angle of wrist motion across all planes of motion assessed. In three specimens, a sudden increase in moment was observed on load/displacement curves. Radiographically, carpal height increased by 14%, and the centre of rotation was displaced 1

AIMS: Patient dissatisfaction following primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA) with manual jig-based instruments has been reported to be as high as 30%. Robotic-assisted total knee arthroplasty (RA-TKA) has been increasingly used in an effort to improve patient outcomes, however there is a paucity of literature examining patient satisfaction after RA-TKA. This study aims to identify the incidence of patients who were not satisfied following RA-TKA and to determine factors associated with higher levels of dissatisfaction.
METHODS: This was a retrospective review of 674 patients who underwent pr

Workflow for cortical bone trajectory (CBT) screws includes tapping line-to-line or under tapping by 1 mm. We describe a non-tapping, two-step workflow for CBT screw placement, and compare the safety profile and time savings to the Tap (three-step) workflow. Patients undergoing robotic assisted 1-3 level posterior fusion with CBT screws for degenerative conditions were identified and separated into either a No-Tap or Tap workflow. Number of total screws, screw-related complications, estimated blood loss, operative time, robotic time, and return to the operating room were collected and analyzed

BACKGROUND: Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) for patients with a large preoperative deformity (more than 10° varus or valgus) remains a challenge leading to a high rate of outliers, unsatisfactory functional results, or early prosthetic loosening. Robotic arm-assisted TKA (RATKA) has shown improvements in implant positioning accuracy. This study aimed to assess RATKA implant positioning accuracy and functional results at one year postoperative for patients with a large preoperative deformity.
METHODS: From November 2019 to July 2022, 500 RATKA were performed. About 74 patients with more than 10°
