The high rigidity and brittleness of traditional thermosetting resin based on bisphenol epoxy limits its many potential technical applications. Here, a novel tertiary amine containing cardanol-based epoxy resin (NC-514-DEA) was synthesized by reaction of diethanolamine (DEA) with cardanol epoxy resin (NC-514). Moreover, NC-514-DEA modified graphene oxide (GOND) was prepared and used as a reactive nano-reinforcing filler for epoxy composites. The results show that, compared with neat epoxy resin, the fracture toughness of the epoxy composite with 0.5 wt% GOND is increased by nearly 10%, and the

Fatigue of composite materials is a very complex phenomenon, to date a numerous research effort is being spent on it. Because of deficiencies in study of flexural fatigue performance basalt fiber reinforced polymer (BFRP), the main objective of this work is to investigate the flexural fatigue performance of BFRP. The laminates of 4.0 mm average thickness were fabricated using the vacuum infusion technique. Three different stress levels of (162.90, 122.24, and 81.44) MPa were considered. A failure criterion was considered to be a 20% stiffness reduction of flexural fatigue test. Also, the stiff

OBJECTIVE: Short fiber reinforced composites (SFRC) require a veneering layer of conventional composite when used as restorations in the oral environment. The current study investigates the toughening effects during the path of a preexisting crack propagating through the bilayer system as it confronts the interface, through the attempted alignment of fibers and matrix-fiber interactions in the SFRC, and the distance it travels in the SFRC.
METHODS: Bilayer systems of SFRC and conventional composite were produced with aligned fibers perpendicular to load direction. Single-edge-notched bend (SE

AIM: The objective of the present study was to close multiple diastemas. This presents a significant challenge for clinicians, given the esthetic considerations and the need for precise replication of various types of tooth tissue. While direct composite resin layering is a demanding technique, it proves to be a viable approach for reshaping tooth anatomy. This article outlines a sculpting technique designed for anterior composite veneers, emphasizing the importance of marginal ridge reconstruction preceding the enamel buccal increment.
CLINICAL CONSIDERATIONS: This report details the clos-ur

INTRODUCTION: Initial caries lesions (ICLs) are most commonly treated using remineralization procedures with fluoride, alongside recommended improvements in oral hygiene. An alternative approach is the micro-invasive method of infiltration using low-viscosity light-curing resin (RI). The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of low-viscosity resin infiltration of natural, proximal initial carious lesions on changes in fluorescence under in vitro conditions.
METHODS: The material consisted of n = 49 human permanent maxillary and mandibular premolars, extracted for orthodontic reasons

BACKGROUND: Bleaching is a highly common method used nowadays to treat tooth discolouration because it is a significant cosmetic issue, particularly with anterior teeth, however bleaching itself results in microleakage.
OBJECTIVE: This study aims to evaluate the impact of in-office bleaching on class V restoration microleakage with type 1 and type 2 composite restorations.
METHODS: Three hundred and twenty healthy, caries-free removed human anterior teeth were used in this in-vitro study. All extracted teeth had their buccal and lingual surfaces uniformly prepped for class V cavities. The 12

STATEMENT OF PROBLEM: Complete arch implant-supported prostheses (CAISPs) often require distal cantilevers; however, evidence on the influen … remained stable. Chipping resistance was highest for CRCO-C, followed by TI-HIPC and B-HIPC; milled composite resins showed greater resistance than conventional composite resins (P=.02). Deflection at Fmax was minimal (<0.3 mm) for CRCO-C and zirconia but higher for TI-HIPC and B-HIPC, particularly at 15 mm.
CONCLUSIONS: At a 7.5-mm cantilever length, most tested …

Pulp inflammation in restored teeth is mainly due to the presence of bacteria or bacterial products introduced by microleakage around the re … ions with Precise 1 System. In the specimens of all groups, there were active odontoblasts near the composite resins and no newly formed dentin. Small quantities of inflammatory cells were present. A 1- to 3-microm layer zone of necrosis was present. In conclusion, all materials tested in this study induced similar tissue responses.
