Endoscopic third ventriculostomy (ETV) has been established as an effective method in the treatment of tumoral obstructive hydrocephalus. BACKGROUND: This study aimed to review clinical outcomes for patients selected to undergo laparoscopic resection for gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) of the stomach.

PURPOSE: This study aims to review gallbladder cancer (GBC) and present current management strategies, factors influencing prognosis, recurrence and areas of consideration.
METHODOLOGY: Literature search in PubMed was made and restricted to articles published from 2002 to 2013 using the following keywords: (GBC + peritoneum and GBC + surgery + metastasis/recurrence); abstract evaluation narrowed results to 53 articles. Twenty-six single-institution reports with 2,097 patients among 36 large-scale retrospective studies were obtained and focused on surgical outcomes.

To confirm the risk of chest wall tract metastases following chest wall intervention for malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM), we reviewed our institutional experience. Between 2006 and 2010, 14 patients with MPM underwent chest wall intervention for diagnosis in Kyoto University Hospital. AIMS: Phytic acid, a major constituent of cereals, pulses, and seeds has been advocated as an important antioxidant component of dietary fibre that affords possible protection against colorectal cancer. This is supported by experimental studies showing it has antineoplastic activity in animal models of both colon and breast cancer. To date the concentration of faecal phytic acid in human clinical groups has not been evaluated. We describe the case of a 54-year-old man with a tumour of the proximal esophagus (cT3-4,N1,M0), who underwent percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) for enteral feeding. Primary radiochemotherapy was initiated shortly after PEG insertion. Five months after PEG insertion the patient detected a nodule at the site. The general practitioner diagnosed this nodule as a brotic reaction. Another six weeks later, ulceration that had grown along the PEG probe at the PEG site was observed on gastroscopy.
