OCTDL: Optical Coherence Tomography Dataset for Image-Based Deep Learning Methods.

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive imaging technique with extensive clinical applications in ophthalmology. OCT enables the visualization of the retinal layers, playing a vital role in the early detection and monitoring of retinal diseases. OCT uses the principle of light wave interference to create detailed images of the retinal microstructures, making it a valuable tool for diagnosing ocular conditions. This work presents an open-access OCT dataset (OCTDL) comprising over 2000 OCT images labeled according to disease group and retinal pathology. The dataset consists of OCT r

Time-Resolved Dynamic Optical Coherence Tomography for Retinal Blood Flow Analysis.

PURPOSE: Optical coherence tomography (OCT) representations in clinical practice are static and do not allow for a dynamic visualization and quantification of blood flow. This study aims to present a method to analyze retinal blood flow dynamics using time-resolved structural OCT. METHODS: We developed novel imaging protocols to acquire video-rate time-resolved OCT B-scans (1024 × 496 pixels, 10 degrees field of view) at four different sensor integration times (integration time of 44.8 µs at a nominal A-scan rate of 20 kHz, 22.4 µs at 40 kHz, 11.2 µs at 85 kHz, and 7.24 µs at 125 kHz). Optical Coherence Tomography-Guided Stenting for Common Carotid Free-Floating Thrombus.

A 57-year-old male with a history of esophagus cancer presented with acute dysarthria and mild weakness in his left extremities. Carotid duplex ultrasonography demonstrated a carotid free-floating thrombus (CFFT) in the right common carotid artery (CCA) extending to innominate artery (IA). It was difficult to determine the entity and the proximal end of the thrombus on digital subtraction angiography (DSA), but intravascular optical coherence tomography (OCT) showed unique morphological features and identified the exact location of the proximal and distal ends of the thrombus through the numbe

Optical Coherence Tomography Findings in Glaucoma With Coexisting Vitamin A Deficiency.

This case study reports on the presence of vitamin A deficiency in an adult with asymmetric normal tension glaucoma. The retinal OCT findings demonstrated not only expected loss of the outer retinal layers, typically seen in vitamin A deficiency, but also severe and bilateral loss of the inner retinal layers. After vitamin A supplementation, visual acuity, dark adaptation, and color vision normalized. The outer retinal layers had a restoration of thickness after vitamin A supplementation, but the inner layers did not change. This case is unique because it may give us an insight into the role o

Imaging the Ear Anatomy and Function Using Optical Coherence Tomography Vibrometry.

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a novel technology for performing real-time high-speed and high-resolution cross-sectional imaging on the micro-scale in situ. It is analogous to ultrasound imaging, except that it uses light instead of sound. OCT has recently been introduced in auditory research to visualize the various structures of the ear with a minimally invasive operation. In addition, OCT can be used as a vibrometry system that is capable to detect sound-induced sub-nanometer vibrations of the middle and inner ear. OCT-vibrometry measures depth-resolved vibrations into the specimen,
