Verneuil's disease (hidradenitis suppurativa) is a chronic inflammatory, suppurating, fistulizing and scar-producing disease of apocrine gland-bearing skin. Its transformation into epidermoid carcimona has been reported 38 times in literature. We describe two new cases - two males aged 67 and 68-years-old. The first one is still alive with no recurrence after one year and the second patient died 2 months after surgery, showing generalised scattering. Posttraumatic foot and ankle reconstruction requires careful preoperative planning to reduce wound complications. Systemic and local factors need to be considered. A careful surgical technique can avoid the need for surgical soft tissue coverage. Recognition of the need for coverage preoperatively improves outcomes. Often, dressings and time allow minor wound complications to heal. More severe wound issues require early soft tissue coverage by local or free flaps to prevent failure of the surgery.

In the context of surgical treatment of bladder extrophy/epispadia in the adults, the authors offer one-stage urogenital reconstruction, i.e. urethro-corporo-glanulo-sphyncteroplasty with penile preparation. Long-term results were analysed in adult patients with total epispadia and urine incontinence. Intact erectile function was observed in all 25 patients. An adequate function of the artificial muscular sphyncter was registered in 20 patients. The length of the penis increased from 2.5 to 5 cm. Sexual adaptation was achieved in 88% cases. Social adaptation occurred in all the cases.

BACKGROUND: Traumatic auricular amputation due to human bite is not a common event. Nonetheless, it constitutes a difficult challenge for the reconstructive surgeon. Bone islands and juxta-articular bone cysts are relatively common incidental findings when X-rays are taken for other purposes. We have identified that the incidence of bone islands in the hands of asymptomatic children between the ages of 5 and 13 years is 3.8% and the incidence of cysts in the same population is 2.8%. BACKGROUND: Split-thickness skin grafts are often utilized for vulvo-vaginal reconstruction. Unfortunately, infection and sloughing may occur in up to 22% of patients with standard techniques especially at irradiated recipient sites.
CASES: We report seven cases of vulvo-vaginal reconstruction using split-thickness skin grafts. In this series, we used fibrin tissue adhesives with and without vacuum-assisted closure devices to augment graft adherence and viability. BACKGROUND: Pelvic exenteration may be the only curative option for women with recurrent pelvic malignancies. After total pelvic exenteration, the resultant perineal defect heals slowly if left to do so by secondary intention. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate a modified technique of sternocleidomastoid muscle transposition for the dynamic reanimation of the chronic facial paralysis.
METHODS: Both of the sternal and cleidus extremities of the sternocleidomastoid muscle were elevated from their bony attachment. The mastoid extremity was left in the place as a pedicle for the blood supply. The muscle stripes were then transposed into the face through the tunnel under the skin and the ends were sutured to the opposite orbicularis oris muscle of the upper and lower lips to correct the deformity of the mouth and nose.

The loss of web space may be congenital or acquired. Although local skin flaps are usually preferred, recurrence rate is fairly high. In this study, we used the VM-plasty as a versatile technique to create a web space and expanded its applications. Thirteen patients (7 males and 6 females) with 22 syndactylous webs were operated on using this technique. Earlobe keloid can form after cosmetic ear piercing, trauma, or burns, and it poses several difficulties in treatment and distinctive cosmetic implications. Treatment methods for earlobe keloids include both surgical and nonsurgical methods.
