We report the case of a woman who had been operated upon for a recurrent meningioma of the falx cerebri which, 22 years after it was discovered, produced pulmonary metastases. Metastases from meningiomas are extremely rare; they affect the lungs in 60% of the cases or, less frequently, the liver or lymph nodes. The factors predictive of secondary dissemination are the site of the tumour, the quality of excision, the histological type (haemangiopericytic meningioma) and the presence of cell necrosis, hypercellularity and strong mitotic activity.

Feces collected from three asymptomatic horses and seeded with Cryptosporidium parvum oocysts (10(1) to 10(6)/g of feces) were evaluated by acid-fast staining (AF), an immunofluorescent antibody (IFA) technique, and flow cytometry. Ectopic splenic tissue may arise as either a congenital anomaly or acquired seeding of fragments from a mechanically disrupted spleen. Regardless of the etiology, splenic tissue presenting at unexpected sites may lead to symptomatic or incidentally discovered lesions that may raise clinical suspicion for neoplasia. We present three cases of ectopic splenic tissue that were clinically ominous and necessitated pathologic tissue examination for definitive diagnosis.

We report a novel and a serendipitous finding of interventricular septal calcification, in a common case of tetralogy of fallot with absent pulmonary valve in a 13-month old male patient. The patient had a stormy infantile course seeded with multiple episodes of severe wheeze-associated respiratory infection. However, he did well postoperatively. He needs to be followed up closely for septal calcification progression and a remote chance of arrhythmias.

We present 2 patients with prior lumpectomy, axillary node dissection and radiation therapy for treatment of breast cancer, who subsequently developed arm and chest cellulitis associated with an oral infection (gingivitis with bacteremia in one patient, and dental abscess in another). Our findings suggest that hematogeneous seeding of the compromised extremity and/or breast from the oral cavity should be considered as a possible cause of cellulitis in breast cancer patients.

An elderly man had group B streptococcal meningitis. The infection may have seeded the meninges through a rhinocerebral fistula. Despite the frequency of nasopharyngeal colonization with this organism, reports of adult meningitis secondary to group B Streptococcus are rare; to our knowledge, no previous cases specifically associated with rhinocerebral fistula have been described. Reasons for the discrepancy between the frequency of nasopharyngeal colonization and the rarity of meningitis are suggested.

INTRODUCTION: Epigenomic dysregulation contributes to Alzheimer's disease (AD) and related tauopathies. Acetyl-CoA synthetase 2 (ACSS2), a nuclear-localized metabolic enzyme in neurons, supports histone acetylation and learning-related gene expression. We examined how ACSS2 loss affects molecular and behavioral phenotypes in a mouse model of tauopathy.
METHODS: We induced tauopathy in ACSS2 knockout and control mice via injection of pathological human tau. We assessed transcriptomic, epigenomic, and behavioral changes, and tested long-term acetate supplementation as a rescue strategy.
