Epidermolysis bullosa (EB) is a rare skin disorder characterized by blister formation in response to minor trauma and accompanied by extracutaneous manifestations. The use of endosseous implants to support fixed prostheses for the rehabilitation of patients with recessive dystrophic EB might provide a considerably better clinical treatment outcome than traditional prosthodontic interventions. A palatal lift prosthesis technique for edentulous patients has been described. A movable palatopharyngeal section that elevates the soft palate by the force of orthodontic wires was designed. The prosthesis with the movable palatopharyngeal section improved both speech and swallowing. This method may be useful for some edentulous patients with hypernasal speech.

The use of an interim denture helps prepare basal seat tissues, muscles, and joints to reach a more normal and healthy condition before definitive denture placement. This state is achieved through proper denture fabrication, occlusal adjustments, and tissue conditioning. This article focuses on the indications, technique, and postoperative care that are involved in making an interim denture in a matter of hours. A case report demonstrates the procedure and patient management that is used to obtain a successful result.

Patients with complete avulsion of the palate may require extensive surgical and prosthodontic rehabilitation. The prosthesis should replace not only missing teeth but also lost soft tissues and bone, including the hard palate, residual alveolar ridges, and in some situations, the soft palate. This clinical report describes the prosthetic rehabilitation, after appropriate surgical options had been exhausted, of a patient with bilateral traumatic avulsion of the maxilla.

Ectodermal dysplasia is a hereditary disease characterized by dysplasia of tissues of ectodermal origin. The incidence of ectodermal dysplasia is rare (1 in 100,000 birth). This case report discusses the features, classification and prosthetic treatment plan (upper partial denture and lower complete denture for upper partial and lower complete edentulous arches respectively).
