BACKGROUND: Inferior turbinate hypertrophy is often encountered by plastic surgeons who perform rhinoplasty. Many treatment options are available to treat the inferior turbinate. The objective of this study was to systematically review outcomes of available techniques and provide guidance to surgical turbinate management.
METHODS: A MEDLINE search was performed for means of treating inferior turbinate hypertrophy. Studies selected focused on treatment of the inferior turbinate in isolation and excluding patients with refractory allergic rhinitis, vasomotor rhinitis, or hypertrophic rhinitis.

A structured review of published papers was done to assess the efficacy and safety of fasciectomy and fasciotomy in European patients with Dupuytren's contracture. The outcomes varied across 48 studies. Short-term psychodynamic psychotherapy (STPP) is a widely practised form of psychological intervention. We describe an outcome-based approach to quality assurance in primary care and present data from an initial study made to explore its usefulness. A questionnaire, which asked patients to report on the status of their problem in terms of the amount of symptoms, activity limitation, and anxiety it caused, was mailed to adults who had been seen a month previously for upper respiratory tract infection, sore throat, or urinary tract infection.
