Synovial fluids from rabbits with antigen-induced arthritis were investigated for the presence of slow-reacting substance of anaphylaxis (SRS-A) using biological assay in guinea-pig ileum. Inflamed joints from rabbits sacrificed within eight hours of the articular challenge disclosed SRS-A activity, indicating that peptidic leukotrienes may also be important in the physiopathology of acute articular inflammatory processes.

OBJECTIVE: The Decision Regret Scale (DRS) is a valid instrument evaluating the "correctness" of a treatment decision from the patient perspective. The minimal clinically important difference (MCID) is proposed as a threshold for patient-reported outcome measure (PROM) improvement success. The relationship between decision regret and failure to achieve clinical success in adult spinal deformity (ASD) surgeries is not known. Melanomas are skin tumors that show a variety of biological behavior. Some develop very fast and some other grow extremely slow, with metastasis appearing, eventually, many years after the diagnosis. The number of mitoses in primary melanoma has been related to a more aggressive tumor and may have a potential as predictive factor for cutaneous melanoma survival. However, tumor mitotic rate is a static measure and in multivariate analysis on tumor survival, it has scored less than other tumor characteristics. We tried to evolve tumor mitotic rate from a static parameter to a time-dependent one.

Paraseptal emphysema (PSE) is a relatively unexplored emphysema subtype that is usually asymptomatic, but recently associated with interstitial lung abnormalities which are related with clinical outcomes, including mortality. Previous local-based methods for emphysema subtype quantification do not properly characterize PSE.
