Prevalence and prognosis of anxiety, insomnia, and type D personality in patients with myocardial infarction: A Spanish cohort.

BACKGROUND: It has been suggested that patients with myocardial infarction and non-obstructive coronary arteries (MINOCA) have more psycho-emotional disorders than patients with obstructive coronary artery disease (MICAD). The aim of this study is to compare the prevalence of anxiety, insomnia, and type D personality between MINOCA and MICAD and their impact on prognosis. METHODS: Patients with myocardial infarction undergoing coronary angiography were prospectively enrolled. Psychological questionnaires were completed by each patient during admission. RESULTS: Among a total of 533 patients,

[Type A personality and its relations: the significance of hostility, neuroticism and verbal behavior for coronary heart diseases].

Despite the growing body of evidence against Type-A behavior pattern as a risk factor for coronary heart disease, there remains much interest in the relationship between some of the Type-A components, especially hostility, and coronary heart disease. However, the construct of hostility too needs further refinement into overt-expressive hostility which correlated positively with the severity of coronary occlusion and the covert experience of hostility, or neurotic hostility, which is negatively correlated. Loud speech and the frequency of simultaneous interruptive speech are other attributes as

Personality and mental disorders: sensitive character, melancholic type, and addenda.

A traditional view in psychiatry is that personality disorders or traits are intimately related to primary mental disorders. Psychic functions with common roots might be constitutive of personality and psychosis or other disorders. Hoche held that paranoia, mania and melancholia lie in the normal psyche, and Kraepelin conceded such a view, explicitly implying personality. According to Carl Schneider, endogenous symptom complexes or associations and normal functional associations are fuzzy. Many other psychopathologists emphasize personality characteristics in connection with endogenous or func

Personality Prototypes in People with Type 1 Diabetes and Their Relationship with Adherence.

Type 1 diabetes (Dm1) is a chronic endocrine and metabolic disease that affects the whole person and requires active, decisive treatment. However, personality traits may influence a patient's adherence to treatment guidelines. The objective of this work is firstly to identify the 3 Asendorpf personality prototypes (resilient, undercontrolled and overcontrolled) in a sample of Dm1 individuals and determine whether there are any differences in comparison with a control sample; and, secondly, to study their association with adherence to self-care guidelines using both physiological indicators (Hb

Relationship Between Personality Types in MBTI and Dream Structure Variables.

This study aimed to explore relationships between personality type variables and dream structure variables. In the questionnaire experiment (N = 410), we investigated associations between different personality variables in the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator questionnaire (MBTI) and various aspects of dreams in the Mannheim Dream questionnaire (MADRE). The MBTI has four dimensions. In the Extroversion/Introversion (E/I) dimension, I types dreamt more of emotional intensity and passive emotions than E types. In addition, I types may become more distressed in nightmares than E types. E types more fr

The factors associated with insulin nonpersistence in persons with type 2 diabetes.

AIMS: Implementation of insulin therapy among those with diabetes is often suboptimal as a result of non-adherence or non-persistence. Studies regarding factors leading to insulin nonpersistence are limited. Therefore, we conducted this retrospective cohort study to determine the factors affecting insulin nonpersistence. METHODS: A total of 274,852 persons with type 2 diabetes mellitus under insulin therapy during the period 2000-2014 were enrolled. Persons who stopped insulin therapy for >90 days were defined as having insulin nonpersistence. We searched for factors associated with insulin n

Forced person-following: a new type of stimulus-bound behavior.

We report a new type of stimulus-bound behavior, denoted forced person-following, which we documented for a patient with hypoxic encephalopathy following a suicide attempt with carbon monoxide poisoning. The patient's brain was damaged in the bilateral frontal, parietal, and temporal lobes and in the basal ganglia. The patient was compelled to follow any person who came into his sight and would continue to do so until the person went out of his sight. The patient also exhibited certain primitive reflexes. The forced person-following exhibited by our patient appears to be a consequence of stimu

[The distressed personality (type D)--correlations with anger, aggression and hostility].

Type D (distressed personality) comprises the joint tendency to experience negative emotions (negative affectivity) and to inhibit these emotions in social situations (social inhibition). The distressed personality can be assessed by the Type D scale (DS14). In the present study, the German version of the DS14 was to be validated especially with regard to its interrelation with anger, aggression and hostility. The study included a clinical sample of 90 patients with coronary heart disease and a nonclinical sample of 86 participants. The two-factor structure of the DS14 could be confirmed in bo

Psychosocial correlates of central sensitization and kinesiophobia: the role of Type D personality in fibromyalgia - a cross-sectional study.

BACKGROUND: Fibromyalgia (FM) is a multifactorial syndrome involving central sensitization and psychosocial factors such as fear of movement and emotional distress. Type D personality (TDP) may exacerbate these factors, but its role in FM remains unclear. This study aimed to investigate the associations between TDP and central sensitization, kinesiophobia, disease severity, and psychological distress in patients with FM. METHODS: A total of 120 women (60 with FM, 60 healthy controls) aged 18–60 years were included in this cross-sectional study. Participants were assessed using the Type D Scale

A machine learning approach for differentiating bipolar disorder type II and borderline personality disorder using electroencephalography and cognitive abnormalities.

This study addresses the challenge of differentiating between bipolar disorder II (BD II) and borderline personality disorder (BPD), which is complicated by overlapping symptoms. To overcome this, a multimodal machine learning approach was employed, incorporating both electroencephalography (EEG) patterns and cognitive abnormalities for enhanced classification. Data were collected from 45 participants, including 20 with BD II and 25 with BPD. Analysis involved utilizing EEG signals and cognitive tests, specifically the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test and Integrated Cognitive Assessment. The k-near

Psychometrics of the autonomy and relatedness inventory in persons with type 2 diabetes.

BACKGROUND: Social support is essential for the self-management of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM); no specific measure of the quality of social support has been designed and tested for people with T2DM. Having a validated questionnaire that is culturally and linguistically appropriate in this field would nurture research in this area and contribute to better patient health outcomes. AIMS: This study investigated the psychometric features of the Autonomy in Relatedness Inventory (ARI) among individuals with T2DM in Jordan. METHODOLOGY: We used a secondary dataset on self-management and outco
