Transcatheter Closure of Large Coronary-Cameral Fistulas Using the Patent Ductus Arteriosus Occluder or Amplatzer Vascular Plugs.

Transcatheter closure (TCC) has emerged as the first-line treatment for coronary artery fistulas. However, limited data exist regarding the long-term outcomes and technical aspects of this procedure. We aimed to report the long-term outcomes and technical aspects of TCC of large coronary-cameral fistulas (CCFs).All patients with large CCFs who underwent attempted TCC using the patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) occluder or Amplatzer vascular plug (AVP), from June 2002 to December 2017, were retrospectively reviewed. A total of 23 patients with large CCFs underwent attempted TCC using the PDA occlu

[Carcinoid of the Appendix Goblet Cells Metastasize to the Orbit - a Clinical Case Report and Review of the Literature].

INTRODUCTION: Intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) therapy is a widely used mechanical circulatory support method for patients with advanced heart failure, including those awaiting orthotopic heart transplantation (OHT). Traditional femoral access limits patient mobility and may not be suitable in cases of peripheral artery disease. AIM: This study evaluates the feasibility and safety of a fully percutaneous, sheathless IABP implantation via the left subclavian artery as a bridge to transplantation. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Between June and December 2024, 10 patients in critical condition (1 F, 9 M

Clinical application of subdermal areolar tissue and superficial fascia graft as a new material for coverage of small exposure of bone cortex or orthopaedic fixation device.

BACKGROUND: The presence of cortical bone, tendon that has been exposed by defects, may result in infection or osteomyelitis. In such cases, perifascial areolar tissue grafting (PATG) may be performed as a minimally invasive surgical procedure. However, perifascial areolar tissue (PAT) is located deep in the subcutaneous layer. It was considered that grafting of the superficial vascular network might enable less invasive surgery. This study reports use of subdermal areolar tissue (SAT) and superficial fascia (SF) to close avascular areas. METHODS: This study treated eight areas of exposed bon

Surgical strategy for closure of postoperative bronchopleural fistula: a narrative review.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Postoperative bronchopleural fistula (BPF) remains one of the most severe complications after pulmonary resection due to its frequent association with empyema, aspiration, respiratory failure, and sepsis. Although numerous surgical and endoscopic options have been described, the literature is heterogeneous with respect to fistula timing, pleural contamination, residual cavity status, and definition of success. This review aimed to synthesize the evidence on postoperative BPF management with emphasis on surgical strategy selection and the role of minimally invasive int

Pipeline embolization device-assisted angioplasty for type II proatlantal intersegmental artery dissection inducing an embolic shower.

The proatlantal intersegmental artery (PIA) plays a crucial role in blood supply during embryonic development, and failure of its closure can lead to the persistent proatlantal intersegmental artery (PPIA), which may result in pathological changes such as dissection and aneurysms. We present a case of a patient with right type II PPIA dissection inducing an embolic shower, accompanied by left vertebral artery hypoplasia (VAH). Digital subtraction angiography (DSA) and high-resolution magnetic resonance vascular wall imaging (HRMR-VWI) showed the aneurysmal dilation of the false lumen in the ri

PseuSeal technique: endovascular repair of Iatrogenic pseudoaneurysm using ExoSeal.

INTRODUCTION: The ExoSeal® (Cordis, Florida, USA) is a bioabsorbable vascular closure device that facilitates hemostasis by deploying a polyglycolic acid (PGA) plug. This report presents the "PseuSeal technique," a novel approach to seal pseudoaneurysm using ExoSeal in an off-label manner. METHODS: The PseuSeal technique includes the PseuSeal Snare and PseuSeal Rendezvous, both performed via a contralateral crossover approach. The choice of approach depends on whether a 4-Fr catheter can be advanced into the pseudoaneurysm cavity. If feasible, the PseuSeal Snare is selected; otherwise, the Ps

Superficial Femoral Artery Access for Infrainguinal Antegrade Endovascular Interventions in the Hostile Groin: A Prospective Randomized Study.

BACKGROUND: In a hostile groin, it may be difficult to perform antegrade endovascular procedures at the lower extremities using the ipsilateral common femoral artery as vascular access; therefore, the use of the ipsilateral superficial femoral artery (SFA) could be a useful alternative. In this study, we evaluated the feasibility and safety of ultrasound-guided SFA puncture versus traditional SFA cutdown to achieve arterial access. METHODS: This prospective observational randomized study examined patients with symptomatic peripheral arterial disease who required endovascular interventions at

Optimizing MANTA Closure and Bailout in Large-Bore Femoral Access: Computed Tomography Angiography-Derived Measurements and Rescue Strategies.

BACKGROUND: The MANTA (Teleflex, Wayne, PA, USA) facilitates hemostasis in large-bore femoral access. However, precise measurement of the common femoral artery depth is required before arteriotomy upsizing. This measurement may be unavailable in emergencies or bailout scenarios for suture-based closures. AIMS: This study aimed to evaluate computed tomography (CT) angiography-derived common femoral artery depth measurement as an alternative to the MANTA Depth Locator. METHODS: This retrospective study at MedStar Washington Hospital Center included all patients with available preprocedural ili

Clinical efficacy and safety of the PRO-glide device as a sUture-mediated ClosurE in Thoracic EndoVascular Aortic Repair in patients with previous groin intervention (from the PRODUCE-TEVAR Trial).

BACKGROUND: While the percutaneous approach is increasingly preferred, suture-mediated closure devices have been put into clinical practice to close the femoral artery during procedures requiring a large-sized introducer. However, scar in the groin is considered a contraindication or an exclusion criterion for percutaneous procedures. The aim of our study was to investigate the outcomes and safety of Pro-Glide device as suture-mediated closure device in patients who underwent thoracic endovascular aortic repair with percutaneous femoral access ≥22 F who had previous groin intervention.
