BACKGROUND: In this study, we describe the technique of eversion of the native aortic tissue to prevent suture line complications, and report on our results with this technique.
METHODS: A total of 42 patients who were operated on due to aortic aneurysm were retrospectively assessed. In all patients, an aortic segment of approximately 2 cm, which was left both distally and proximally, was everted to form a double-layer lumen and the grafts were anastomosed. Postoperative outcomes and long-term follow-up results were assessed.
RESULTS: Aortic root replacement was done in 14 cases and eight su

Intracranial arterial dissection (IAD) is a rare cause of ischaemic stroke, with involvement of the anterior cerebral artery (ACA) being uncommon. We present the case of a woman in her mid-40s who developed acute right leg weakness associated with a headache. Initial non-contrast CT (NCCT) and CT angiography (CTA) scans were reported as normal; she was thrombolysed with intravenous alteplase for a clinical diagnosis of stroke. Post-thrombolysis NCCT showed an infarct in the left ACA territory. At the time of review, in our weekly neuroradiology meeting, a dissection of the proximal left ACA wa

Composite conduit aortic root replacement has become widely accepted as the preferred treatment for ascending aorta aneurysm and dissection. We present a patient in whom creation of 'buttons' was impossible due to fragility of the ascending aorta wall. The distal anastomosis was made to the transected aorta. The remnant of the proximal ascending aortic wall was fully transected 8-9 mm above the upper edge of coronary ostia anastomoses (incorporated into conduit using inclusion technique), thus forming a 'collar' around the proximal part of the conduit. At the end of the procedure the 'collar'

BACKGROUND: Since its introduction, thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) has revolutionized the treatment of type B aortic dissections (TBADs). However, the proximal aspect of the aortic pathology treated may infringe on the origin of the left subclavian artery or even more proximally. Hence, to ensure durable outcomes, the origin of these vessels needs to be covered, but an extra-anatomical bypass is required to perfuse vital branches, known as aortic arch debranching. This series aims to describe and delineate the disparities of aortic arch debranching during TEVAR for TBAD.

OBJECTIVE: Endovascular repair of post-type A aortic dissection (PTAD) after open ascending replacement has recently been shown as safe and feasible, but with limited anatomic applicability because only one stent graft was evaluated. We assessed anatomic and clinical applicability of six commercially available branched/fenestrated stent grafts for endovascular repair of PTAD.
METHODS: On postoperative CT scans of 101 patients, we measured the aortic diameter at the sinutubular junction, supra-aortic vessels, and descending aorta, as well as the distances between these landmarks along the oute

BACKGROUND: The ever-changing landscape of aortic arch surgery necessitates a constant update on the available devices and technologies for the contemporary management of complex aortic diseases. The E-Vita OPEN NEO hybrid stent graft system offers a unique approach for aortic arch replacement with the frozen elephant trunk technique. In contrast to its predecessors and other commercially available devices, it fits to each individual patient's needs by allowing for more proximal graft anastomosis. We sought to present our initial experience with the novel E-Vita OPEN NEO hybrid stent graft sys

OBJECTIVE: Most of the entry tears of uncomplicated type B aortic dissection are located in the distal arch and extends in a retrograde manner to the level of the left subclavian artery. Our objective was to evaluate feasibility and effectiveness using fenestrated sent graft with complete neck vessel preservation to treat uncomplicated type B aortic dissection.
SUBJECTS AND METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed the record of patients with uncomplicated type B aortic dissection who underwent fenestrated thoracic endovascular aortic repair in subacute phase (15-90 days) between August 2016 and A

BACKGROUND: Aberrant right subclavian artery (ARSA) with associated Kommerell diverticulum (KD) is a rare congenital aortic disease. KD patients have a high risk of rupture, dissection, and compression of adjacent structures. Although several treatment options have been proposed (traditional surgery, hybrid operation, and endovascular intervention), a consensus regarding optimal surgical management has not yet been established.
CASE PRESENTATION: A case of successful hybrid repair of distal aortic arch dissection aneurysm by dissecting KD and ARSA with debranching of right and left common car

Endovascular repair of thoracic aortic diseases can provide satisfactory outcomes in elective and certain emergency cases involving the descending thoracic and aortic arch. However, open repair remains the gold standard method of aortic root pathologies and certain aortic arch pathologies, such as extended dissection. Nevertheless, the use of endovascular stenting in patients with connective tissue disorders has not been fully explored because the aortic tissues are fragile and the likelihood of keeping the stent in place is low because of its progressive dilatation and subsequent requirement
