We have performed a computerized analysis of postoperative changes in corneal astigmatism in 203 consecutive cases of extracapsular cataract extraction with posterior chamber intraocular lens implantation performed by one surgeon. Surgical technique was standardized consisting of a 140 degree posterior limbal incision with preplaced 9-0 silk and postplaced 10-0 nylon sutures. The response of rat lymphocytes to schistosomula released products (SRP) was examined. SRP non-specifically activated lymphocytes by potentiating their proliferative response to PHA, Con A or LPS. The parasite factor involved was dialysable and heat stable. This article presents the results of endoscopic treatment for recurrent postcorrosive esophageal stenosis with a tube-stent developed at our institution. The tube-stent was implanted in 5 children with corrosive esophageal injury at the age of 2 to 8.5 years after 7 to 64 dilatation sessions during 5 to 118 months. OBJECTIVES: To verify corneal topography and astigmatism after cataract surgery with 8 mm scleral tunnel incisions closed with a continuous 10-0 nylon suture.
SETTING: Institute of Ophthalmology, University of Verona, Italy.
METHOD: Twenty eyes were studied for 12 months after cataract extraction with 8 mm, sutured, scleral tunnel incisions. Corneal topography (EyeSys 2.1) was evaluated for the first 5 months.
