A new computerised method of measurement of the anterior chamber in the human eye is described. Photographs of the anterior chamber were taken with a Zeiss slit-lamp 75-SL and converted from an optical image into a true image by computer with a digitiser. We obtained data on both the anterior chamber volume and also the anterior chamber depth, peripheral anterior chamber volume, the diameter of the anterior chamber, and the degree of the iridocorneal angle. Changes in soft tissue morphology induced by surgery are generally analysed using midline profiles only, derived from photographs and cephalometric radiographs. Full face photographs supplement these records. Soft tissues and their changes can be measured in three dimensions using stereophotography. This report described how the three dimensional changes produced by facial surgery were measured for a patient undergoing surgery to the mandible.

We adapted a Nikon camera body without a build-in mask to the Kowa RC-W retinal camera in combination with the Komura Telemore 95 2 X magnification accessory attachment. This way we obtain finer detail retinal photographs taking the complete image field of 24 X 36 mm on the film into consideration. The negatives or slides are large enough to be read without the use of a magnifier. Most other systems have a smaller field of view at higher magnification, because of built-in masks.

We undertook a retrospective observational review of patients referred to a tertiary dermatology department with vulval complaints over 12 months. The most common provisional diagnoses made by the referrer and final dermatology diagnoses were lichen sclerosus (54% and 38%), dermatitis (12.7% and 16.5%) and psoriasis (5.1% and 6.3%). Referrers may benefit from further education about skin diseases of the vulva, topical steroids for vulval complaints and the importance of clinical photography.
