Stratification of impaired relaxation filling patterns by passive leg lifting in patients with preserved left ventricular ejection fraction.

METHODS: We evaluated diastolic functional reserve in 108 patients with normal left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF)> or =50% but abnormal relaxation (ratio of transmitral peak velocity of early and late diastolic flow (E/A)<1) using passive leg lifting. We calculated the pulmonary venous systolic to diastolic flow ratio (S/D) as a marker of left atrial reservoir function, and the time difference between the duration of pulmonary venous retrograde flow (PVAd) and the duration of the mitral A wave (PVAd-Ad) as a marker of left ventricular end-diastolic pressure (LVEDP). RESULTS: During leg…

Active Nerve Identification in Endoscopic Forehead Lift: A Neuroprotective Technique for Enhanced Sensory Recovery.

BACKGROUND: Endoscopic forehead lifting is a widely used minimally invasive procedure for upper facial rejuvenation. Postoperative forehead numbness caused by nerve injury remains a common complication, and conventional passive nerve protection is insufficient. METHODS: A retrospective 1:1 matched case-control study was conducted with 28 patients (14 pairs). The study group received proactive endoscopic identification and protection of the supraorbital and supratrochlear nerves, while the control group underwent conventional surgery. Main outcomes included numbness VAS score, numbness area, F…

Balancing antibacterial effects and cytotoxicity through LIFT-fabricated AgNP microdomain arrays on PET.

Here, we report the first systematic study of two distinct configurations of hexagonal silver nanoparticle (AgNP) microdomain arrays prepared on polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrates using the laser-induced forward transfer (LIFT) technique. By varying the size and spacing of the domains, we investigated how geometric parameters govern nanoparticle distribution, surface morphology, and biological response. AFM, SEM, CLSM, EDX, and XPS analyses revealed a pronounced gradient of AgNP density across the patterned surfaces, with the highest roughness and nanoparticle aggregation in domain ce

Forehead Eyebrow Lift Techniques: Review of the Literature and Critical Appraisal of Long-term Efficacy.

BACKGROUND: Forehead eyebrow lift (FEL) techniques have changed significantly over the past decades. They have slowly moved away from open coronal or hairline incision lifts toward minimally invasive endoscopic approaches. However, incomplete knowledge of functional anatomy, dynamic eyebrow muscle activity, and basic aging changes has frequently resulted in failed procedures, relapses, and an unnatural appearance with excessive brow elevation. The purpose of this review was to evaluate the long-term efficacy of open or endoscopic FEL and to highlight how evolving understanding of forehead and

The Brazilian Butt Lift: An Analysis of Top-Rated Content on the Social Media Platform TikTok.

BACKGROUND: The rising demand for cosmetic gluteal fat grafting is partially attributed to social influence and evolving beauty standards. On the social media platform TikTok alone, content related to what is colloquially known as the Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) garnered over 15 billion views in the past 3 years, raising concerns about the potential influence of visually striking yet possibly misleading media content on patient decisions and perceptions. This study aimed to analyze the source and content of BBL-related TikTok videos to assess the quality of information presented to potential pat

Optimized tissue sample preparation for cryo-electron tomography using serial lift-out.

Cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET) can provide invaluable insights into subcellular structures in their native environment at molecular resolution. Cryo-focused ion beam (cryo-FIB) has been widely adopted to obtain thin lamellae of cells suitable for tomographic data acquisition. However, its application to tissue samples faces significant limitations. The larger sample size extends milling time, reducing sample preparation throughput. Furthermore, the need for repeated, intricate lift-out procedures adds considerable time and complexity to the workflow. The serial lift-out technique, which ca

Use of Ancillary Procedures in Combination with the MACS-Lift for Facial Rejuvenation: A Retrospective Cohort Study.

BACKGROUND: While facelifts remain central to facial rejuvenation, ancillary procedures are essential for addressing aspects of aging not corrected by facelifting alone, such as soft tissue atrophy and skin quality. Despite their routine use, few reviews describe their role alongside facelifts in modern practice. OBJECTIVE: To define the range of ancillary procedures used with the Minimal Access Cranial Suspension (MACS) lift in current practice. METHODS: A retrospective review was conducted on all MACS-lift procedures performed by the senior authors from January 1, 2018, to December 31, 202…

The L-Lift: A Novel Technique for Jawline Contouring Using Calcium Hydroxylapatite in Southeast Asians.

The aging process changes the youthful facial contour from heart-shaped to triangular. Lower face rejuvenation and jawline contouring procedures can help prevent or reduce these changes. Traditional approaches for lower face rejuvenation and jawline contouring include surgical facelifts; however, using less invasive procedures to achieve these outcomes is becoming increasingly popular. This article introduces the L-Lift, a novel technique for jawline contouring in Southeast Asians. The L-Lift involves administering sequential calcium hydroxylapatite injections along the lower border of the man
