Differentiation of a primary uveal melanoma from a uveal metastasis can be difficult. Review of the records of 627 patients with choroidal or ciliary body melanoma seen at our institution between September 1977 and November 1987 showed that 53 (8%) had a second, systemic malignant disorder. A complete ophthalmologic evaluation, including indirect ophthalmoscopy, fundus photography, ultrasonography and general medical studies, should minimize incorrect ocular diagnosis and inappropriate therapy.

PURPOSE: To remind eye care providers of the importance of obtaining vertical rasters in OCT evaluation of patients with suspected hypotony maculopathy.
OBSERVATIONS: OCT with vertical rasters may identify chorioretinal folds that are missed by ophthalmoscopic examination, fundus photography, and traditional OCT with horizontal rasters alone.
CONCLUSIONS AND IMPORTANCE: In patients with low IOP and decreased vision, OCT imaging with horizonal and vertical rasters should be obtained to diagnose hypotony maculopathy and monitor response to treatment.

Sixty tilted discs were studied by colour photography, including some by fluorescein angiography. Attention was drawn to the contracted, D-shaped outline of the scleral canal, and it was suggested that fewer fibres than normal enter the defective side of the disc. This was supported by examination of the nerve fibre layer and the discovery of field defects in 13 of the 27 eyes in which the visual fields were examined. The similarity of these features with congenital hypoplasia of the optic nerve head was noted.

The purpose of this research project was to examine female to male transsexuals' (FTMs) experiences of accessing health care. This was accomplished by documenting and recording the experiences of five FTMs through the use of photography and interviews. It was hoped that such an inquiry would provide a starting point for future research about the health care needs of the transgender community, and document some of the health care needs of the FTM community that would lead to recommendations for policy changes and educating providers.

Forensic identification of sex determination using lip print analysis in North Bihar, India is of interest. The analysis of lip prints consisted of data collection points during baseline, 6 months and 12 months. However, no significant time-related alterations (p > 0.05) were found indicating their enduring nature. Lip print collection through lipstick and digital photography was successful similar to latent method that proved successful except in male participants who used latent documentation at baseline.

Recently, tuberculosis re-emerged as a serious public health problem, in industrialized countries, while remaining it remains a major cause of mortality and morbidity in third world countries. Intraocular localization is rare. The most common manifestation of ocular tuberculosis in patients with miliary is Bouchut tubercules. An atypical feature of ocular tuberculosis is discussed: a pseudotumoral choroid granuloma. The behavior of the lesion and its response to antituberculous therapy was documented clinically by fundus photography on fluorescein angiography.
