INTRODUCTION: Cardiovascular disease increases the risk of developing Alzheimer's disease (AD), and growing evidence suggests an involvement of cerebrovascular pathology in AD. Capillary dysfunction, a condition in which capillary flow disturbances rather than arterial blood supply limit brain oxygen extraction, could represent an overlooked vascular contributor to neurodegeneration. We examined whether cortical capillary transit-time heterogeneity (CTH), an index of capillary dysfunction, is elevated in amyloid-positive patients with mild cognitive impairment (prodromal AD [pAD]).

In lobular capillary hemangioma (LCH), misnamed pyogenic granuloma, only sprouting angiogenesis (SA) has been considered. We assess the occurrence of intussusceptive angiogenesis (IA) in LCH and whether IA determines the specific and other focal patterns in the lesion. For this purpose, we study specimens of 120 cases of LCH, using semithin sections (in 10), immunohistochemistry, and confocal microscopy (in 20). In addition to SA, the results in LCH showed (1) intussusceptive phenomena, including pillars/folds and associated vessel loops, which encircled interstitial tissue structures (ITSs).

PURPOSE: We report the clinical outcomes of retinal capillary hemangioma (RCH) after the application of various treatments.
METHODS: We performed a retrospective chart analysis of eight eyes treated for RCH between August 2009 and January 2018. Hemangioma of the female genital tract is very uncommon. Histologically, these are predominantly cavernous type, with few capillary and mixed type reported in the literature. Hence, we report a case of concurrent occurrence of capillary hemangioma of the ovary and fallopian tube, an incidental finding.

Filar lipomas are a subtype of spinal lipomas wherein adipose tissue accumulation is restricted to the filum terminale. Embryologically, filar lipomas are considered to occur because of the failure of secondary neurulation, although the precise mechanism is not yet completely understood. BACKGROUND: Semi-quantitative wide-field nailfold capillaroscopy (NFC) is a simple technique with proven utility in the early diagnosis of systemic sclerosis (SSc). Its role in prognosis, however, remains uncertain.
AIM: To investigate the possible utility of NFC in predicting survival.
METHODS: Patients with SSc listed on the South Australian Scleroderma Register (SASR) with prior NFC performed at Flinders Medical Centre from 1991 to 2015 were included in this study. Hemoptysis is rare in children and adolescents. We describe an 11-year-old girl who presented with hemoptysis, cough, and exertional dyspnea. Radiologic and bronchoscopic assessment revealed a pedunculated mass in the right main stem bronchus with a ball valve effect. Carcinoid or hemangioma was suspected as cause of the mass. The tumor could be excised bronchoscopically, and histologic examination showed a capillary hemangioma. In the literature, bronchial hemangiomas are described in infants and adults. This case demonstrates that bronchial hemangioma should also be taken into consideration
