Cutis verticis gyrata is a rare skin condition characterized by ridges and furrows resembling the surface of the brain. It can be considered as a manifestation of a variety of diverse causes such as cerebriform intradermal nevus. We report a 48-year-old man with cerebriform and soft folds on the left parietal and temporal areas. Histology showed solitary or clusters of nevus cells in the dermis. The diagnosis of cerebriform intradermal nevus was confirmed.

BACKGROUND: Nevus spilus is a rare, acquired, and often large cutaneous lesion consisting of a light brown background macule containing varying numbers of small darker macular or papular areas.
OBJECTIVE: Nevus spilus may contain dysplastic melanocytic elements, and there are also reports of melanoma arising from nevus spilus. However, the absolute risk for malignant transformation is not well defined.
CONCLUSION: We discuss a case of synchronous melanomas arising from a nevus spilus and potential management recommendations based on a review of the pertinent literature.

Verrucose epidermal nevus is a benign and congenital hyperplasia of the superficial epidermis and annexes. It expresses itself during the firs year of life, grows during childhood and in adolescence reaches its largest size. It can appear everywhere in skin surface. We present a case of late verrucose epidermal nevus with genital onset. Differential diagnosis was done with acuminated condylomas.

Cutaneous malignant melanomas with histologic evidence of an associated nevus (N+) may have a different risk factor profile from that of melanomas without it (N-). To address this question, a case-only analysis of 932 people with cutaneous malignant melanoma was done to identify etiologic and other factors associated with N+ melanoma. The authors present a case of linear nevus sebaceous syndrome (LNSS) with atrophy of bilateral frontotemporal areas of the brain, left cerebellum and hippocampus, and bilateral uncal dysplasia demonstrated by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). White sponge nevus (WSN) is a benign hereditary lesion of the mucous membranes. DNA extracted from a biopsy specimen of oral WSN was assayed for the presence of DNA sequences homologous to human papillomavirus (HPV) types 1, 2, 4, 6, 11, 13, 16, and 18 by Southern blot hybridization. Only HPV-16 homologous DNA sequences were detected at a copy number of approximately 200 to 250 genome copies per diploid cell. Total body naevi counts have been performed on 3931 Italian subjects aged 5 to 79 years (2063 males and 1868 females). Only naevi greater than or equal to 2 mm in diameter were recorded. A case of dysplastic nevus syndrome in a 41-year-old tyrosinase-positive oculocutaneous albino man is presented. Clinically the patient exhibited multiple amelanotic lesions; histologic examination provided the diagnosis of dysplastic nevus syndrome. Fontana-Masson silver staining revealed the presence of melanin in the nevus cells. Hair bulbs incubated in tyrosine buffer produced melanin. This is the second reported case of dysplastic nevus syndrome in an oculocutaneous albino and the first case of dysplastic nevus syndrome in a tyrosinase-positive albino of which we are aware.

A case is presented of a 16-year-old girl who had unilateral linear nevus sebaceous syndrome and ipsilateral brain malformations.
