Evaluation of antenatal risk factors for postpartum depression: a secondary cohort analysis of the cluster-randomised GeliS trial.

BACKGROUND: Maternal weight variables are important predictors of postpartum depression (PPD). While preliminary evidence points to an association between pre-pregnancy obesity and PPD, the role of excessive gestational weight gain (GWG) on PPD is less studied. In this secondary cohort analysis of the German 'healthy living in pregnancy' (GeliS) trial, we aimed to investigate associations between weight-related variables and PPD and to assess the influence of GWG on the risk for PPD. METHODS: We included women with normal weight, overweight, and obesity (BMI 18.5-40.0 kg/m2). Symptoms of PPD

Analysis of the Tunicamycin Biosynthetic Gene Cluster of Streptomyces chartreusis Reveals New Insights into Tunicamycin Production and Immunity.

The tunicamycin biosynthetic gene cluster of Streptomyces chartreusis consists of 14 genes (tunA to tunN) with a high degree of apparent translational coupling. Transcriptional analysis revealed that all of these genes are likely to be transcribed as a single operon from two promoters, tunp1 and tunp2. In-frame deletion analysis revealed that just six of these genes (tunABCDEH) are essential for tunicamycin production in the heterologous host Streptomyces coelicolor, while five (tunFGKLN) with likely counterparts in primary metabolism are not necessary, but presumably ensure efficient producti

Philadelphia-negative chronic myelogenous leukemia with breakpoint cluster region rearrangement: molecular analysis, clinical characteristics, and response to therapy.

We have detected rearrangement in the breakpoint cluster region (bcr) on chromosome 22 in cells derived from seven chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) patients who had no cytogenetic evidence of a chromosome abnormality. These Philadelphia (Ph)-negative, bcr rearrangement-positive CML patients had clinical features and laboratory parameters that bore a strong resemblance to those of Ph-positive CML; all patients have shown a favorable response to hydroxyurea, busulphan, or alpha interferon (IFN-alpha) therapy. In one patient, because of the deletion of distal 3' sequences, detection of bcr rear

Early malaria risk screening in Nigerian minors using AutoML and cluster-based analysis of non-clinical survey data.

Malaria remains a major public health challenge in sub-Saharan Africa, with Nigeria accounting for a substantial proportion of the global malaria burden, particularly among children under five years of age. Although rapid diagnostic tests (RDTs) enable timely screening, false-negative results and delays in confirmatory microscopy can hinder early treatment in resource-limited settings. This study developed and evaluated an automated machine learning (AutoML)-based framework for early malaria risk prediction using demographic, household, and socioeconomic data from the nationally representative

Tidal tail identification and detailed analysis of the open star cluster King 13 using Gaia DR3 and 2MASS.

We present a comprehensive study of the young open cluster King 13 using photometric and astrometric data from Gaia DR3 and 2MASS. Our analysis refines the cluster's fundamental parameters, including its structure, kinematics, and evolutionary status. To assess membership, we employed the pyUPMASK Python package with the HDBSCAN algorithm. The primary emphasis of this study is our new approach to assign a membership probability at each radius, rather than applying a single value to the entire cluster. These probabilities are calculated based on the number of stars deduced from the King model.

Insights into the Biosynthesis of Kibdelomycin and Amycolamicin from Comparative Biosynthetic Gene Cluster Analysis and Precursor Incorporation Studies.

Kibdelomycin and amycolamicin are identical antibiotics produced by Kibdelosporangium banguiense CA-240109 and Amycolatopsis sp. MK575-fF5, respectively. They are broad-spectrum antibiotics showing potent activity against antibiotic-resistant Gram-positive bacteria. These compounds inhibit DNA gyrase subunit B (GyrB) and topoisomerase IV (ParE) by a unique U-shaped multicontact binding mode and have no cross-resistance to known antibiotics. Kibdelomycin represents a promising scaffold for developing new antibiotics, but its poor production, structural complexity, and chemical stability limit i
