We report a case of nail candidiasis with severe deformities. The patient was a 71-year-old woman who initially consulted our department on April 5, 2006. She had diabetes, chronic rheumatoid arthritis and multiple liver metastasis of unknown origin. She had taken prednisolone for treatment of chronic rheumatoid arthritis for a long period. Severe granulocytopenia predispose patients with Felty's syndrome to severe infectious diseases. The following report deals with an occurrence of chronic disseminated candidiasis in a patient with Felty's syndrome who presented with prolonged and severe granulocytopenia. To the best of our knowledge this coexistence has never been described before.

In the present study, we have evaluated prophylactic role of various immunomodulators viz. lipopolysachharide, protein A and tuftsin to impart protection against experimental candidiasis in leukopenic mice. The purpose of this review was to investigate the management of oral candidiasis in HIV/AIDS patients and to evaluate the different guidelines available for its management. A number of topical and systemic antifungal medications are used to treat oral candidiasis in HIV-positive patients. Infection of the larynx by Candida is rare and usually accompanies lung or disseminated candidiasis. The incidence of isolated laryngeal candidiasis (ILC) is low, although it may be underestimated. We describe 2 patients with ILC confirmed during autopsy: a 45-years-old male with pulmonary fibrosis and a 4-years-old girl with acute myeloblastic leukemia. The authors present a nonimmunocompromised patient who developed refractory fungal (Candida albicans) cholangitis and who subsequently underwent successful orthotopic liver transplantation for progressive destruction of intrahepatic and extrahepatic bile ducts. The histopathological features of the acute infection by Candida albicans in susceptible CBA/H mice, as well as its dissemination in various organs has been examined. The brain, in which the localization of blastospores is minimal, is the organ most severely affected.
