Replication of a Modified Factor Structure for the Eating Disorder Examination-Questionnaire: Extension to Clinical Eating Disorder and Non-clinical Samples in Portugal.

Psychometric investigations of the Eating Disorder Examination-Questionnaire (EDE-Q) have generally not supported the original scale structu … it for the alternative 7-item 3-factor structure (dietary restraint, shape/weight overvaluation and body dissatisfaction). Eating pathology among adolescent girls with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder.

The authors investigated prospectively assessed eating pathology (body image dissatisfaction and bulimia nervosa symptoms) among an ethnically and socioeconomically diverse sample of adolescent girls with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder-combined type (ADHD-C; n=93), ADHD-inattentive type (ADHD-I; n=47), and a comparison group (n=88). The sample, initially ages 6-12 years, participated in a 5-year longitudinal study (92% retention rate). After statistical control of relevant covariates, girls with ADHD-C at baseline showed more eating pathology at follow-up than did comparison girls; g

Application of implementation science frameworks to inform the adaptation process of an evidence-based eating disorder prevention program for high-risk perinatal individuals.

BACKGROUND: The perinatal period is a high-risk time for body dissatisfaction and disordered eating. METHOD: Our approach is informed by ADAPT, a framework offering guidance for adapting interventions to new contexts, to modify the Body Project for pregnant individuals. Following initial adaptations…

Embodiment and biographical disruption in people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA).

This study attempts to provide a concrete understanding to the embodied experience of HIV/AIDS. PLWHA have to cope with physical changes, especially lipodystrophy, caused by HIV and its treatment. These clinical manifestations make the disease socially visible and form a potential source of stigmatization. Visibility seems to transform the personal experience of this particular illness into a collective one. The changing body image and the stigma, which is often internalized by individuals, along with other consequences of chronic illness, such as alteration of life plans and social relationsh

Symptom impact and safety of ketogenic therapy in adults with anorexia nervosa: a feasibility trial.

Self-Esteem and Body Satisfaction After Radical Orchiectomy With or Without Testicular Prosthesis: A Retrospective Study at a Mexican Tertiary Center.

Radical orchiectomy remains the standard treatment for localized testicular cancer. However, the resulting anatomical loss may negatively affect body image and self-esteem, especially in young men. The use of testicular prostheses has been proposed as a reconstructive option to mitigate these psychosocial effects, though evidence on its impact on global self-esteem remains limited, particularly in Latin American populations.  Methods: We conducted a retrospective, analytical study among adult patients with non-metastatic testicular cancer who underwent radical orchiectomy at a tertiary public

Exploring the pressure to "bounce back" to pre-pregnancy weight after birth.

Weight stigma is defined as negative attitudes and beliefs towards individuals based on their weight, which can manifest as stereotypes, rejection, and prejudice. During the postpartum period, societal pressures to quickly lose weight are intensified and often glorify rapid weight loss. These pressures can have a negative impact on maternal mental health, contributing to postpartum depression, anxiety, and impaired mother-infant bonding. This study aimed to identify the sources of potential pressure to 'bounce back' to pre-pregnancy weight among women who have recently given birth. The study i
