The rapid loss of human CYP1A2 (cytochrome P450 1A2) activity caused by the 8-methylxanthine furafylline is investigated with the aim of determining whether a stable covalent adduct of the xanthine to the enzyme could be identified. Metabolic studies employing expressed CYP1A2 with radiolabeled furafylline and a close analogue, cyclohexylline, where the furan ring is replaced with cyclohexane, indicate that these xanthines are bound in a 1:1 ratio to CYP1A2 protein. Epstein-Barr virus-positive diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (EBV+ DLBCL) is an aggressive malignancy characterized by an immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment (TME), where tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) often exhibit an M2-like phenotype that facilitates immune evasion. We investigated the larvicidal potential of 10 plant essential oils (EOs) against the Asian tiger mosquito Aedes albopictus. Among the EOs, larvicidal activity against Ae. albopictus was strongest in those derived from massoia (Massoia aromatica) and nutmeg (Myristica fragrans). Kaposi sarcoma and primary effusion lymphoma cells are infected with Kaposi sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV), predominantly in the latent form, and KSHV replication is observed rarely.
