PURPOSE: Radioactive cesium-bearing microparticles (CsMPs) were generated by the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant (FNPP) accident. Despite their low radioactivity, CsMPs are insoluble and their dose distribution to the surrounding tissues is non-uniform, raising concerns about their biological effects. The local crystal structures of many perovskite-structured materials deviate from the average space-group symmetry. We demonstrate, from lattice-dynamics calculations based on quantum chemical force constants, that all of the cesium-lead and cesium-tin halide perovskites exhibit vibrational instabilities associated with octahedral titling in their high-temperature cubic phase. Nonadrenergic inhibitory junction potentials (IJPs) evoked by intramural stimulation were investigated in smooth muscle of guinea pig stomach, caecum and colon by means of sucrose-gap method. IJPs disappeared in the smooth muscle preexposed to K-free Krebs solution for 4-9 h and restored by addition 6mM Cs+. OBJECTIVE: Adjuvant radiation therapy (RT), such as cesium-131 (Cs-131) brachytherapy or stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), reduces local recurrence (LR) of brain metastases (BM).
