PURPOSE: This case illustrates a pulp tissue-induced dentointegration of a titanium implant.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: One commercially available titanium implant with a sand-blasted and acid-etched surface was placed in the maxilla of a foxhound where the palatinal root of the previously (i.e., 8 weeks) removed first molar was unintentionally retained. After 8 weeks of nonsubmerged healing, the dissected block was prepared for immunohistochemical (osteocalcin) and histomorphometrical analysis.

Sinus floor elevation is a clinical procedure to allow implantation in the posterior maxillary areas, in cases of reduced alveolar height. Numerous techniques and materials have been described during the last 2 decades. The aim of this article is to present an innovative technique for sinus lifting procedure. The use of a titanium mesh allows better stability of grafted materials and a more predictable result.

The titanium implant surface was sandblasted with large grits and acid etched (SLA) to increase the implant surface for osseointegration. BACKGROUND: Titanium has been a well established implant material for many years. New material processing techniques now permit the manufacture of small implants for ossicular chain reconstruction.
METHODS: Between November 1994 and September 1995, 100 titanium middle ear implants (55 PORP, 45 TORP) were used for reconstruction of the ossicular chain. A range of five different sizes for partial and total protheses suits all implantation needs. The shape of the implants can be altered by bending. PURPOSE: The authors retrospectively reviewed their initial experience with deployment of the modified hook titanium Greenfield filter.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: Twenty-three patients underwent filter placements over a 1-year period. Radiographs were obtained immediately after placement to confirm filter position in all cases. Follow-up images were available in 15 patients (65%).

Tissues from five patients who underwent revision operations for failed total hip replacements were found to contain large quantities of particulate titanium.
