Sturgeon cartilage, which is rich in chondroitin sulfate (CS), is usually discarded during sturgeon utilization. In this paper, CS was isolated from large hybrid sturgeon skull and backbone and named SCS and BCS, respectively. Their structures were investigated via Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). OBJECTIVE: The main aim of this prospective study was to explore the ability of the oral microbiome to produce acetaldehyde in ethanol incubation.
STUDY DESIGN: A total of 90 patients [30 oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC); 30 oral lichenoid disease (OLD); 30 healthy controls (CO)] were enrolled in the study. Microbial samples were taken from the mucosa using a filter paper method. The density of microbial colonization was calculated and the spectrum analyzed. The labelling of tetracycline hydrochloride with 99mTc at neutral pH, using Sn2+ as reducing agent, has been investigated by chromatography, using a 4:1:5 n-butanol:acetic acid:H2O mixture as developing agent, with Whatman paper No 3. In such conditions, reduced 99mTc remained at the origin, while labelled 99mTc migrates at Rf approximately equal to 0.6. A radioimmunoassay for determination of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in man is described. After extraction from plasma, DHT is separated by paper chromatography. The radioimmunoassay is performed using an antiserum to dihydrotestosterone-3-oxime-BSA and a charcoal-dextran mixture is used to separate the free from the bound fraction. The reliability criteria of the method in terms of precision, accuracy, sensitivity and specificity have been evaluated.
