The goal of this study was to determine whether a new dynamic arm support system reduced shoulder and arm muscle load for seated and standing hand/ arm tasks. The Headache Classification Committee of the International Headache Society recently issued revised diagnostic criteria for headache disorders. According to these criteria, tension-type headache may be subclassified depending upon whether pericranial muscle disorder is found. The presence or absence of pericranial muscle disorder was to be determined by palpating the muscles for tenderness or by measuring electromyographic (EMG) activity. In this study, pericranial muscles were palpated, and EMG activity was measured in 27 episodic tension-type headache patients and 32 headache-free controls.

The degree of remaining motor unit activity at maximal voluntary contraction of the face was examined in three of the facial muscles in 43 untreated patients with Bell's palsy. All the patients were examined within 10 days of the onset of the paresis. In 40 patients the EMG activity was compared with the clinical evaluation of the paresis and in 33 patients with the results from sialometry. In 53 patients in different periods of brain strokes the authors studied the functional state of spinal centers by means of registration of H-reflex and F-wave of the skeleton muscles.
