BACKGROUND: Laser treatment for congenital melanocytic nevi (CMN) is controversial. Correlations between anatomical distribution of facial CMN and efficacy of laser treatment have not been characterized.
MATERIALS & METHODS: A total of 90 facial CMN treated with ablative laser (Er:YAG or CO2 laser) were retrospectively reviewed. Clinical assessments were completed by at least two plastic surgeons using the Investigator’s Global Assessment (IGA) score.

BACKGROUND: The scalp has been proposed as an anatomic site that harbors melanocytic nevi with distinctive histologic attributes, so-called "special-site" nevi, similar to nevi on the breast and genitalia. However, detailed studies are lacking.
OBJECTIVE: We sought to better delineate the features of scalp melanocytic nevi, particularly lesions that may qualify as special-site nevi.
METHODS: The histologic features of 365 total melanocytic nevi of the scalp were studied from 322 patients over a consecutive period of 18 months from July 2007 through January 2009.

Meyerson nevi occur whenever a rare focal and transitory eczematous eruption arises around melanocytic lesions. The same phenomenon has also been observed in non-melanocytic lesions as well. A 12-year-old girl presented with a 2-year history of a 10 cm area of asymptomatic brown coalescent plaques of coalescent, linearly arranged papules on the lower back. No other physical or systemic abnormality was detected. Routine laboratory investigations, including thyroid function tests, were normal. The histopathological examination revealed hyperkeratosis, papillomatosis, and elongated rete ridges in the epidermis. On special staining (Alcian blue), mucin deposition was seen in the papillary dermis. The remaining dermis was normal. A diagnosis of Mucinous Nevus was made.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the frequency of clinically unapparent melanocytic nevi on a series of preputial excisions.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: We undertook a prospective histologic study of the prepuce obtained in a series of 372 consecutive circumcisions for phimosis performed during the period between January 2000 and December 2002.
