High mortality in bobwhite quail chicks (Colinus virginianus) (35%-85%) was reported from a grower flock in Iowa during July and August of 2022. Two diagnostic submissions of dead, 3-day-old quail chicks were received. Postmortem examination revealed multifocal, pinpoint, pale tan foci in the liver of all birds. OBJECTIVE: The purpose of the current study was to examine decision making in female patients with binge eating disorder (BED) in comparison with obese and normal weight women.

Forty-four developmentally dislocated hips occurring in 30 patients with an average age at initial surgery of 10.7 (range 2-19) months under … skeletal maturity. At the most recent evaluation, all but two patients had the highest score on the Iowa Hip Rating. The authors conclude that open reduction through the medial approach is effective in developmental dislocation of the hip. Clinical and laboratory findings were examined in 80 nonfatal cases of toxic-shock syndrome (TSS) which occurred in women from Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa between October 1, 1979, and September 19, 1980. Among the clinical and laboratory factors reviewed, the presence of physician-diagnosed shock was the factor that most significantly correlated with other organ involvement. Vomiting, mucous membrane hyperemia, myalgias, and abnormal urinalysis were the factors noted to be manifest as frequently in the absence as in the presence of shock. We evaluated twenty-one patients, one to eight years after removal of total hip-arthroplasty components because of infection. The patients of a rural nursing home in Iowa were surveyed according to age and sex, plus chronic and acute disease problems. With the use of the International Classification of Health Problems in Primary Care, the diagnoses were organized by major disease category and by specific diagnosis.
