Congenital anosmia and subjective tactile function: A pilot study.

Anosmia, the complete loss of olfactory perception, has been associated with sensory compensation in non-chemical senses such as vision and hearing, but its relationship with tactile perception remains unclear. This study investigates whether isolated congenital anosmia (ICA)-a rare condition in which individuals are born without a sense of smell but are otherwise healthy-is linked to heightened self-reported tactile sensitivity compared to healthy controls. Drawing on sensory compensation theory and anecdotal evidence from related studies, we hypothesized that individuals with ICA would repor

French translation and pilot testing of the CEGSSS: A replicable framework.

INTRODUCTION: The Canadian Endourology Group Stent Symptom Score (CEGSSS) is a concise questionnaire developed to assess patients' ureteral stent-related symptoms. To support its worldwide applicability, we present the initial phases of its adaptation to French, offering a replicable framework for future translations. METHODS: The original CEGSSS underwent forward-backward translation and was reviewed by a multidisciplinary committee. The pre-final French version (FR-CEGSSS) was pilot-tested in iterative cycles, with French-speaking urologists and patients completing questionnaires to assess

Psychological Impact of Biologic Therapy in CRSwNP: A Pilot Study.

Biologic therapies not only improve the inflammatory profile of chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) but also appear to enhance patients' psychological well-being. Depression, anxiety, and stress levels significantly decrease after treatment with Dupilumab or Mepolizumab, suggesting a possible link between disease control and psychological improvement. This pilot study supports the integration of psychological assessment into the management of chronic airway diseases.

Investigating pupillometry to detect preoperative anxiety: a pilot study.

Guidelines from the European Society of Anesthesia (ESA) insist on the importance of preoperative anxiety management. However, its assessment currently relies on questionnaires that are long to submit and sometimes difficult to interpret. Exploring the balance between sympathetic and parasympathetic neural systems through the use of pupillometry is a promising path to identify anxiety and thus provides an objective and reproducible assessment tool. A single-center prospective observational study was conducted in a population of ambulatory ophthalmological surgery patients. Preoperative anxiety

The Spinal Cord Injury Self-Management Program: A Pilot.

People with chronic spinal cord injury (SCI) experience a higher rate of secondary health conditions (SHCs) which affect their health and well-being. Self-management (SM) is a proven intervention approach, but formal programs may need to be tailored for the SCI population to reflect their needs and values. We sought to examine the feasibility and acceptability of the Spinal Cord Injury Self-Management (SCISM) Program and estimate its effect. A total of 32 individuals with SCI participated in the program. The primary outcomes were feasibility, acceptability, SHCs, and goal attainment. Participa
