A 3-year-old girl affected by a virilizing tumor of the adrenal gland, without significant elevation in the levels of 17 ketosteroids (17-KS) urinary excretion, was studied clinically. Her symptoms started abruptyly at the age of 2, with progressive enlargement of the clitoris and the appearance of pubic hair. In various tests, the 17-KS levels barely exceeded the upper normal limits and at times remained within normal limits. Epidermal inclusion cysts are benign lesions that can be found in many parts of the body. They are rarely seen in the clitoral region in pediatric patients but when these are found, they are most commonly seen with a history of trauma. We report an uncommon case of a spontaneous nontraumatic epidermal inclusion cyst in the clitoral hood of a female child. This presentation mimicked clitoromegaly but was ultimately found to be a large epidermal cyst that was successfully excised surgically. We present the important pathologic findings and review the relevant literature.

This report describes a primary clitoral adenocarcinoma in a dog with secondary hypercalcemia of malignancy. A 10-year-old, spayed female basset hound was evaluated for a mass protruding from the vulva. The mass was excised, and a histological diagnosis of clitoral adenocarcinoma was made. No evidence of metastasis on thoracic radiographs or abdominal ultrasound was seen. Preoperative hypercalcemia resolved following excision of the mass. INTRODUCTION: In the present study, we introduce clitoral photoplethysmography as an instrument to assess clitoral blood volume (CBV). In research on female sexual functioning, vaginal pulse amplitude (VPA), as measured using vaginal photoplethysmography, has been used extensively as a measure of vaginal vasocongestion. Measurement of clitoral blood flow has thus far been problematic, mainly because of methodological constraints.
AIM: To demonstrate that CBV is a valuable, easy to use complementary measure for the female sexual response, offering additional information to the VPA.

A 28-year-old woman developed hirsutism, facial edema and clitoromegaly after self-injection of long-acting synthetic androgens. The symptoms were ameliorated by administration of flutamide with a combination oral contraceptive. Flutamide appears to be useful in preventing sequelae of acute androgen excess in women and may be a rational therapy for chronic treatment of androgen excess in women.

We report a case of clitoral and renovascular involvement of neurofibromatosis resulting in an enlarged phallus with juvenile hypertension. The patient was successfully treated by removal of the clitoral tumor and nephrectomy. This is the first of 15 reported cases with clitoral involvement, that showed concurrent renovascular hypertension.

Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans of the vulva is an extremely rare neoplasm. This low-grade sarcoma of the dermis clinically appears to be encapsulated but microscopically has tumor projections well away from the central nodules. Wide local excision is the recommended treatment for dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans; however, a more radical surgical approach may be needed to obtain clear surgical margins. The following case study present the fifth reported patient with this unusual neoplasm on the vulva.

Swab specimens for bacterial culture were obtained from the uterus, vagina, vestibule, and clitoral fossa of 48 mares that had normal reproductive tracts, no history of reproductive problems, and no inflammation on evaluation of endometrial biopsy. The mares were predominantly Thoroughbred and Standardbred. Swab specimens of the vagina were obtained through a sterile speculum; swab specimens of the uterus were obtained by use of a double-guarded, occluded culture instrument. Chronic vaginitis is the most common vaginal disorder. Dogs with vaginitis show no signs of systemic illness but often lick at the vulva and have purulent or hemorrhagic vaginal discharges.
