Assessment of the validity of ChatGPT-3.5 responses to patient-generated queries following BPH surgery.

The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence, particularly large language models like ChatGPT-3.5, presents promising applications in healthcare. This study evaluates ChatGPT-3.5's validity in responding to post-operative patient inquiries following surgery for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Common patient-generated questions were sourced from discharge instructions, online forums, and social media, covering various BPH surgical modalities. ChatGPT-3.5 responses were assessed by two senior urology residents using pre-defined criteria, with discrepancies resolved by a third reviewer. A

Measure of Internalized Sexual Stigma for Lesbians and Gay Men (MISS-LG) in Taiwan: Psychometric Evidence from Rasch and Confirmatory Factor Analysis.

Internalized sexual stigma may hamper the development of self-identity, social interaction, and intimate relationship in lesbian, gay, and bisexual (LGB) individuals. The Measure of Internalized Sexual Stigma for Lesbians and Gay Men (MISS-LG) is an important instrument assessing internalized sexual stigma for LGB individuals. However, its psychometric properties have not been examined in LGB populations outside the Italian community. The present study used advanced psychometric testing to evaluate the traditional Chinese version (the MISS-LG) among LGB individuals in Taiwan. LGB individuals (

Secondary traumatisation, burn-out and functional impairment: findings from a study of Danish child protection workers.

Background: Child-protection workers are at elevated risk for secondary traumatization. However, research in the area of secondary traumatization has been hampered by two major obstacles: the use of measures that have unclear or inadequate psychometric properties and equivocal findings on the degree of associated functional impairment. Objective: To assess the relationship between secondary traumatization and burnout using exploratory structural equation modelling (ESEM) and to assess the relationship between secondary traumatization and functional impairment. Methods: A survey of Danish child

Sluggish cognitive tempo in psychiatrically hospitalized children: factor structure and relations to internalizing symptoms, social problems, and observed behavioral dysregulation.

As research examining sluggish cognitive tempo (SCT) advances, it is important to examine the structure and validity of SCT in a variety of samples, including samples of children who are clinically-distressed but not referred specifically for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The present study used a large sample of psychiatrically hospitalized children (N = 680; 73 % male; 66 % African American) between the ages of 6 and 12 to examine the latent structure of SCT, ADHD, oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), depression, and anxiety using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Operationalising the arts exposome.

A recent arts exposome framework identified 50 transdiagnostic causal mechanisms (emotional, cognitive, self-referential, arousal-stress, inflammatory-epigenetic, social, and behavioural) by which arts engagement may affect mental health, organised around patterned daily exposure to active ingredients across diverse modes of arts engagement. Translating this structure into testable predictions depends on two operational prerequisites that current research has under-addressed. First, the active ingredients must be decomposed into mechanism-aligned exposure dimensions: aggregating activities as

Outcome measures after anterior cervical decompression and fusion surgery -non-respondents do not bias the results: A Finnish spine register (FinSpine) study.

INTRODUCTION: Comprehensive national spine registers are used in the Nordic countries. Register data is inherently incomplete, raising concerns about the derived results due to non-respondent bias. Few studies have addressed the effect of non-respondents on the integrity of patient-reported outcome data in national spine registers, suggesting that outcome measures after spine surgery may not differ between respondents and non-respondents. RESEARCH QUESTION: Using the Finnish national spine register (FinSpine), we aimed to assess whether non-respondents would bias patient-reported outcomes at

Evaluating traumatic event scoring schemas for their predictive value to concurrent diagnostic profiles: Texas Childhood Trauma Research Network.

BACKGROUND: To prospectively chart pathways of risk and resiliency following childhood trauma studies need to address three limitations of prior work: 1) recruit beyond social service/ treatment settings; 2) include broad spectrum of trauma types and 3) cast a broad longitudinal measurement framework of both clinical diagnoses and traumatic exposures. The Texas-Childhood Trauma Research Network (TX-CTRN) is a multi-site collaboration that addresses these limitations. In this baseline-only report, we examined domains of trauma and evaluated the concurrent predictive validity of various traumati

Prejudice Toward People With Mental Illness, Schizophrenia, and Depression: Measurement, Structure, and Antecedents.

OBJECTIVES: Many existing measures of prejudiced attitudes toward people with mental illness have conceptual, theoretical, and psychometric problems. The recently created Prejudice toward People with Mental Illness (PPMI) scale has addressed many of these limitations, but prejudice toward people with different mental disorders may be unique and require further exploration. This study aimed to facilitate this exploration by adapting the PPMI to focus on schizophrenia and depression, and investigate the structure, distinctiveness, and the nomological network of prejudice toward people with these

CODE-EHR best practice framework for the use of structured electronic healthcare records in clinical research.

Big data is central to new developments in global clinical science aiming to improve the lives of patients. Technological advances have led to the routine use of structured electronic healthcare records with the potential to address key gaps in clinical evidence. The covid-19 pandemic has demonstrated the potential of big data and related analytics, but also important pitfalls. Verification, validation, and data privacy, as well as the social mandate to undertake research are key challenges. The European Society of Cardiology and the BigData@Heart consortium have brought together a range of in

Patient-based outcomes and quality of life.

Patient-based outcomes complement clinical data with patients' self-evaluation of their physical, psychological, and social well-being, and as such facilitate clinical decision-making, assessing the quality of care provided, and evaluating practices and policies. Some validated generic oral health-related quality of life measures used in recent research indicated a high performance. There is a proportional relationship between the quality of life and periodontitis, ie, the higher the level of periodontitis, the poorer the oral health-related quality of life. This relationship is heightened by

Measuring Fatigue in Multiple Sclerosis: A Rapid Review.

BACKGROUND: Fatigue is one of the most prevalent and debilitating symptoms of multiple sclerosis (MS), as people with MS describe it. It has a complex pathogenesis and often precedes the clinical symptoms of MS and potentially indicates disease progression. Given its prevalence, impact, and intricate connections to disease pathology, accurate measurement is crucial to manage and study fatigue in people with MS; however, current measurements often lack content validity. A mismatch between key aspects of fatigue and existing fatigue scales will limit these scales' ability to capture the full sco

[Rehabilitation of traumatic spinal cord injury with lower limb exoskeleton].

In recent years, several technological innovations have emerged to improve the rehabilitation of traumatic spinal cord injury (SCI). Among them, robotic orthosis, also known as human exoskeletons, are prominent devices for lower limb therapy. Since the early 2000s, numerous clinical studies have begun to investigate the efficacy of these devices, demonstrating the beneficial effects of exoskeletons regarding the prevention and deceleration of the progression of complications following spinal cord injury and subsequent immobilization. Previous works also deal with physiological, psycho-social a
