Associated factors of acute primary angle closure glaucoma in a sub-group of Chinese people: comparison between attack eyes and normal controls.

Acute primary angle closure glaucoma (APACG) is an ophthalmic emergency that may lead to irreversible blindness. Although efforts were made to control intraocular pressure, disease progression still existed. Anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS OCT) may provide a new insight into mechanism of APACG. In order to seek out associated factors by AS OCT, We compared anterior segment parameters between 74 APACG and 48 normal eyes. Analysis of variance, principle component analysis and logistic regression were used. APACG group had more women (75.7% vs 47.9%, p = 0.002), smaller anterior

Genetic association of single nucleotide polymorphisms in PLEKHA7 gene with primary angle closure glaucoma (PACG) in a Central-Eastern Punjab cohort of Pakistan.

BACKGROUND: Primary Angle Closure Glaucoma (PACG) is a potentially devastating disease that causes optic nerve injury globally. METHODS: The enrollment of patients with PACG and healthy controls came from ophthalmology health centers in different hospitals in Punjab (n = 96 cases and n = 102 controls). PLEKHA7 rs216489 and rs11024102 alleles were genotyped by Tetra ARMS PCR. Binary Logistic Regression was applied to discover the relationship amid risk alleles with PLEKHA7. Genetic models were used to identify the risk of links among a specific inheritance pattern's genotype and phenotype. In

Phacoemulsification with Intraocular Implantation of Lens, Endocyclophotocoagulation, and Endoscopic-Goniosynechialysis (PIECES): A Combined Technique for the Management of Extensive Synechial Primary Angle Closure Glaucoma.

Primary angle closure glaucoma (PACG) is more blinding (1 in 4 cases) than primary open angle glaucoma (1 in 10 cases). Cataract surgery is an effective initial treatment for majority of cases of PACG. However, cataract surgery alone may not be enough to control intraocular pressure (IOP) in cases with extensive synechial angle closure glaucoma. It is reported that glaucoma drainage surgery is needed in 12% of PACG cases after cataract surgery. Some experts combine cataract surgery with either goniosynechialysis (GSL) or endocyclophotocoagulation (ECP) to enhance IOP control. However, neither

Resting-State fMRI Co-Activation Patterns Reveal Multiscale Brain Functional Alterations in Primary Angle-Closure Glaucoma: Transcriptomic, Cellular, Neurochemical, and Machine-Learning Signatures.

BACKGROUND: Primary angle-closure glaucoma (PACG) is increasingly recognized as involving brain alterations beyond the visual pathway, but the dynamic organization of large-scale brain activity and its biological context remain unclear. Co-activation pattern (CAP) analysis can characterize transient brain states and may provide insight into state-specific functional reorganization in PACG. METHODS: Resting-state fMRI data were collected from 44 PACG patients and 57 healthy controls. CAP analysis was performed across multiple frequency bands, and six CAP states were identified. Group differenc

Newly Onset Optic Disc Pit Maculopathy (ODP-M) in a Patient With Primary Angle-closure Glaucoma (PACG) After Surgical Iridectomy: A Case Report.

Optic disc pit maculopathy (ODP-M) is a subtype of ODP, characterized by a serous retinal detachment and/or macular retinoschisis. Currently, ODP and ODP-M pathogenesis remain unknown although many hypotheses exist about their clinical features. In this study, we report a case of new ODP-M detected after surgical iridectomy in a patient with primary angle-closure glaucoma (PACG) with a preoperative normal retina and optic nerve. Fine optic disc and the macular area structures were investigated using several imaging techniques. Findings revealed that the course of ODP and ODP-M provide us with
