INTRODUCTION: Studies indicate that with a safety wire in the ureter, an increased amount of force is necessary to advance ureteral access sheaths up to the proximal ureter. Theoretically, the compression of the ureter with the wire could lead to an increase in number and severity of ureteral injuries secondary to placement of a sheath. This prospective study aims to evaluate if there is a correlation between the use of a safety wire and ureteral injury from sheath placement by evaluating the location of the wire in relation to the injury after ureteroscopy.

PURPOSE: Tobacco use is highly prevalent within addiction treatment settings, despite the potential benefits that cessation may provide to patients' psychosocial functioning and overall sobriety. Moreover, tobacco cessation is often insufficiently addressed in addiction treatment programs, although evidence suggests that tobacco control policies, such as access to evidence-based treatment or tobacco-free policies, may be effective. AIM: To analyze the effect of gallbladder's morpho-functional changes as a risk factor for injury of extrahepatic bile ducts during cholecystectomy.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: Laparoscopic cholecystectomy was performed in 20 564 patients. There were 147 64 (71.8%) patients with chronic gallbladder inflammation and 5800 (28.2%) - with acute process. It was performed a retrospective analysis of the incidence and causes of intraoperative trauma of extrahepatic bile ducts and bile outflow. OBJECTIVE: A trial of psychotherapy for generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) demonstrated that motivational interviewing (MI) integrated with cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) outperformed CBT alone on clients' worry reduction across a 12-month follow-up. In the present study, we hypothesized and tested that less client resistance and greater client-perceived therapist empathy (specific foci of MI) would account for MI's additive effect.
