BACKGROUND: Sinonasal undifferentiated carcinoma (SNUC) is an uncommon neoplasm characterized by local extension and an aggressive course. Treatment often includes a combination of chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgery, although the optimal strategy remains unclear. Here, we present the first reported case of leptomeningeal carcinomatosis from SNUC.
METHODS AND RESULTS: A 28-year-old man with rapidly progressive headaches, congestion, and exophthalmos was found to have a nasal mass. Biopsy revealed sinonasal undifferentiated carcinoma. He had a transient response to chemotherapy follow

Background: Radiotherapy is essential for skull base tumor management but carries the risk of radiation-induced brain injury (RIBI). This spectrum ranges from transient radiation-induced contrast enhancement (RICE) to irreversible necrosis. Distinguishing these entities from tumor progression is critical, particularly with the increasing adoption of proton therapy. Methods: A comprehensive narrative review of the peer-reviewed literature was conducted up to October 1, 2025. The search strategy focused on adult patients treated for skull base malignancies, synthesizing data on dose-volume metri

Background: Radiation-induced heart injury can lead to increased risk of heart failure, attack, and ischemia. Some studies proposed IL-4 and IL-13 as two important cytokines that are involved in late effects of ionizing radiation. On the other hand, these cytokines may, through upregulation of Duox1 and Duox2, induce chronic oxidative stress, inflammation, and fibrosis. In this study, we evaluated the upregulation of Duox1 and Duox2 pathways in hearts following chest irradiation in rats and then detected possible attenuation of them by melatonin. Materials and Methods: Twenty male Wistar rats

BACKGROUND Exposure to ionizing radiation (IR) induces severe damage in multiple human tissues. The testes are extremely sensitive to IR, and testes irradiation can result in infertility and abnormality. A novel and safe radioprotector for testes injury from IR is needed. Polydatin (PD) has been proved to have anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, indicating its potential application in radiation protection. MATERIAL AND METHODS Male wild-type C57BL/6 mice (8 weeks old) were exposed to ionizing radiation. At different times after irradiation, testes were isolated and subjected to hematox
