Policy recommendations for overdose response hotlines and applications as a harm reduction tool: A commentary.

SETTING: The ongoing drug poisoning crisis continues to cause significant mortality, with a disproportionate number of overdose deaths occurring when individuals use drugs alone. While supervised consumption sites (SCS) have proven effective in reducing overdose fatalities, their impact is limited by geographic, social, and systemic barriers. In response, overdose response technologies have emerged to expand access to life-saving interventions beyond the reach of traditional harm reduction infrastructure. INTERVENTION: Overdose response technologies (e.g., National Overdose Response Service (

Importance of education and the role of the patient and family in the care of anorectal malformations.

During this early part of the 21st century online technology has prompted many major advances in medical care. In this section we argue that this is particularly evident in the treatment and care of patients born with Anorectal Malformation (ARM) and Hirschsprung's Disease (HD). Our stories show that anyone born with these complex colorectal conditions in the 20th century was destined to a life of isolation and stigma. Here we explore the lack of understanding and recognition of the psychological effects on children and families which has characterised this period. We show that advances in cli

The future of business education: A commentary in the shadow of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Covid-19 pandemic has disrupted business schools worldwide mainly through the shift to emergency remote teaching. I provide a rudimentary framework to understand this transformation through recognizing the changes in the university, the business world and the student. This disruption is going to lead to a decade-long technology-led remaking of business education. Finally, I share a triphasic model that maps the evolution of online learning in business schools.

Generative Artificial Intelligence, Motivation, Anxiety, and Creativity in Saudi English-as-a-Foreign-Language Classrooms: A Cross-Sectional Survey.

Artificial intelligence (AI) tools such as ChatGPT are increasingly being incorporated into English as a Foreign Language (EFL) education; however, limited evidence is available regarding how their use relates to teaching style, digital literacy, motivation, foreign language classroom anxiety (FLCA), and creativity within the Saudi Arabian context. This study investigated the associations among these constructs and examined the mediating role of motivation within a unified conceptual framework. A quantitative, cross-sectional survey was conducted among 280 undergraduate EFL students enrolled a

Simulating Reality and Transforming Endoscopic Education-Lessons from Esophageal Dilation.

Although endoscopic training has traditionally relied on mentorship and procedural volume to assess proficiency, the major gastroenterology societies have increasingly adopted competency-based assessment tools, including the Assessment of Competency in Endoscopy (ACE) and Direct Observation of Procedural Skills (DOPS), to provide a more objective evaluation of technical and cognitive skills. Despite these advances, mentor-based assessment remains susceptible to subjectivity. Emerging technologies such as simulation, virtual reality, and artificial intelligence (AI) offer opportunities to furth

Smart Objects for Clinical Rehabilitation and Education: A Scoping Review of Design, Sensing, and Validation.

Interaction with physical objects plays a key role in the development, assessment, and treatment of cognitive and motor skills across the lifespan. In recent years, this interaction has been enhanced by smart objects, namely everyday items augmented with embedded sensing, processing, and feedback capabilities. These objects enable objective behavioural data collection while preserving natural and engaging human-object interactions. However, the literature remains fragmented and often focused on specific applications or interaction paradigms. This scoping review provides an overview of smart ob

Stereogram of the Living Heart, Lung, and Adjacent Structures.

Innovations in invasive cardiovascular diagnostics and therapeutics, not only limited to transcatheter approaches but also involving surgical approaches, are based on a precise appreciation of the three-dimensional living heart anatomy. Rapid advancements in three-dimensional cardiovascular imaging technologies in the 21st century have supported such innovations through the periprocedural assessment of the clinical anatomy of the living heart. However, even if high-resolution volume-rendered images are reconstructed, they cannot provide appropriate depth perception when displayed and shared on

Strategies to augment adherence in the management of sleep-disordered breathing.

Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is highly effective in treating sleep-disordered breathing (SDB). However, unlike surgical interventions, this treatment modality relies heavily on patient acceptance and adherence. The current definition of adherence is largely arbitrary and is mainly used by third-party payers to determine CPAP reimbursement but CPAP adherence remains sub-optimal. Strategies to augment adherence, especially early in the course of a CPAP trial, are needed in the management of SDB. An understanding of the basis for observed differences in CPAP and oral appliance (OA)

An Evaluation of a Continuing Education Program for Family Caregivers of Ventilator-Dependent Children with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA).

Until 25 years ago, there were limited options for long-term mechanical ventilation of children, and the majority of children were cared for in hospitals. However, with improving technology, the pediatric intensive care unit has moved from the hospital to a home setting, as children with increasingly complex healthcare needs are now often cared for by family members. One of the most complex care conditions involves ventilator and tracheostomy support. Advanced respiratory technologies that augment natural respiratory function prolong the lives of children with respiratory compromise; however,
