The prognostic significance of spontaneous regression of primary melanoma is a controversial issue. Studies on sentinel lymph node status and circulating tumour cells may represent a step towards a better understanding. The role of melanocyte stimulating hormone (MSH) as a mediator of the melanogenic response to ultraviolet radiation (UVR) was examined in C57 BL/6 mice. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of the stromal vascular fraction (SVF) on changes in melanin formation and tyrosinase activity in B16 cells treated by 3-isobutyl-1 methylxanthine (IBMX) and to explore the mechanism of SVF-mediated inhibition of pigmentation.

A new biflavonoid, amentoflavone-7-O-β-D-glucoside, and thirteen known flavonoids were isolated from the fruits of Juniperus chinensis using a bioactivity-guided method and their tyrosinase inhibitory effects were tested using a mushroom tyrosinase bioassay. PURPOSE: Primary congenital glaucoma (PCG) is an autosomal recessive ocular trait caused by mutations in the gene for cytochrome P4501B1 (CYP1B1). Although PCG is often considered to be fully penetrant, the disease shows 50% penetrance in some Saudi Arabian families. The familial segregation of the nonpenetrance suggests a genetic modifier. Recently, tyrosinase (Tyr) deficiency was found to worsen the drainage structure/ocular dysgenesis phenotype of Cyp1b1-/- mice, suggesting that Tyr is a modifier of the phenotype.
