INTRODUCTION: In the aging process of the body, in addition to changes in fat and muscle content, there is also bone loss, implying the possibility of a strong muscle-bone-lipid link. In this study, we initially investigated the relationship between lumbar BMD and low muscle mass and the relationship between "muscle-bone-lipid."
METHODS: The datasets from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2011-2018 were used in a cross-sectional investigation. BMD and appendicular skeletal muscle (ASM) were measured by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA), and appendicular skelet

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: BoneXpert (BX) is an artificial intelligence software used primarily for bone age assessment. Besides, it can also be used to screen for bone health using the digital radiogrammetry tool called bone health index (BHI) for which normative reference values available are calculated from healthy European children. Due to ethnic difference in bone geometry, in a previous study, we generated reference curves based on healthy Indian children. The objectives of this study were: 1) To assess and compare bone health of Indian children with Type 1 diabetes (T1D) using both Euro

CONTEXT: The skeletal involvement of multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1-related primary hyperparathyroidism (MHPT) is not exactly the same as that of sporadic primary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT). Trabecular bone score (TBS) as a texture parameter has been reported to reflect trabecular bone damage.
OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to compare the clinical characteristics, especially the skeletal involvement, between patients with MHPT and SHPT.
METHODS: The clinical characteristics were retrospectively collected in 120 patients with MHPT and compared with 360 patients with SHPT in the same period.

BACKGROUND: Previous study has established two polygenic scores (PGSs) related to femoral neck bone mineral density (BMD) (PGS_FNBMDldpred) and total body BMD (PGS_TBBMDldpred) that are associated with fracture risk. However, these findings have not yet been externally validated in an independent cohort.
OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to validate the predictive performance of the two established PGSs and to investigate whether adding PGSs to the Fracture Risk Assessment Tool (FRAX) improves the predictive ability of FRAX in identifying women at high risk of major osteoporotic fracture (MOF) and

BACKGROUND: No meta-analysis has holistically analysed and summarized the effect of prolactin excess due to prolactinomas on bone mineral metabolism. We undertook this meta-analysis to address this knowledge-gap.
METHODS: Electronic databases were searched for studies having patients with hyperprolactinemia due to prolactinoma and the other being a matched control group. The primary outcome was to evaluate the differences in BMD Z-scores at different sites. The secondary outcomes of this study were to evaluate the alterations in bone mineral density, bone mineral content and the occurrence of

UNLABELLED: This paper presents a comparison of quantitative computed tomography (QCT) and dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) in osteoporosis with vertebral fracture and osteoporosis without fracture. It has been proved that the volumetric bone mineral density (vBMD) measured by QCT exhibits a stronger correlation with fracture risk than areal bone mineral density (aBMD) measured by DXA.
PURPOSE: This study aims to systematically evaluate the ability of QCT and DXA to distinguish between osteoporosis with vertebral fracture and osteoporosis without fracture according to vBMD and aBMD.

INTRODUCTION: Numerous studies have reported the striking result that aspirin use is associated with higher bone mineral density (BMD), suggesting its potential as a population-wide osteoporosis prevention measure. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the impact of chronic low-dose aspirin use on bone remodeling biomarkers and BMD in an aging population.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Between September and November of 2019, clinical data regarding the medication use, serum bone remodeling biomarkers, and BMD of 567 consecutively hospitalized patients, a minimum of 50 years old with type 2 diabetes

INTRODUCTION: The pattern of chronic kidney disease mineral bone disorder (CKD-MBD) is changing with increasing numbers of elderly patients now treated by dialysis. The risk of falls and bone fractures increases with frailty and sarcopenia. As such we wished to review the association between osteoporosis and frailty and loss of appendicular lean mass (ALM).
METHODS: Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) was used to measure lumbar spine and femoral neck bone mineral density (BMD) and body composition. Osteoporosis and osteopenia were defined according to T scores. ALM was indexed to height (A

Background: The distal radius is one of the common sites for fragility fractures. A fracture of the distal radius in the elderly is often associated with low bone mineral density (BMD). It is an early predictor of osteoporosis and increased risk of subsequent fragility fractures of the hip and the spine with greater morbidity. Osteoporosis is becoming an increasing cause for concern in the elderly population. The aim of this study is to determine the prevalence of osteoporosis in patients aged 50 years and above with distal radius fractures in our local population. Methods: This is a retrospec
