[Bullous pemphigoid: a new look at a well-known disease].

BACKGROUND: Bullous pemphigoid is an autoimmune blistering disease that is associated with appearance of subepidermal blisters. IgG antibodies against components of the epithelial basement membrane (BP 180 and 230 antigens) can be typically found in serum of patients. Direct immunofluorescence reveals usually a linear deposition of IgG and/or C3 along the basement membrane, but other immunoglobulins may also be present. CASE PRESENTATION: Our patient had no detectable formation of tense blisters of his skin; instead, the clinical picture was rather compatible with a prurigo simplex subacuta o…

Photodermatoses in pigmented skin.

Photodermatoses are a group of skin diseases primarily caused by, or exacerbated by exposure to ultraviolet and or visible radiation. The ef … lichenoid variants of PMLE and actinic lichen planus are more frequent in dark skin whereas actinic prurigo, solar urticaria and hydroa vacciniforme are uncommon. Photodermatoses are common in dark skinned patients despite better natural photoprotection. It is proposed that lichenoid photodermatoses may be added to the classification of photodermatoses in …

[Targeted UVB-308 nm (NUVB) therapy with excimer laser in the treatment of atopic dermatitis and other inflammatory dermatoses].

UVB 311 nm phototherapy (NUVB) is used successfully in the treatment of psoriasis or atopic dermatitis and is often chosen as "first-line" t … s one hallmark after 3-4 treatments. 48 other patients with lichen simplex chronicus Vidal, nodular prurigo, granuloma anulare, alopezia areata (AA) and lichen ruber planus were also treated by targeted NUVB. We found higher rates of CR and PR only in patients with AA and in patients with oral Lichen ruber mucosae. These results and the systematically rev …

Vasoactive peptides in the pathogenesis of psoriasis.

Psoriasis, a chronic inflammatory skin disease, is believed to be exacerbated by stress. The exact mechanism of this phenomenon is not fully … pustulosis, atopic and irritant eczema, rosacea, lichen sclerosus, vitiligo, pigmented urticaria or prurigo nodularis. Among different neuropeptides, substance P, calcitonin gene-related peptide, vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) and neuropeptide Y have been mostly studied in psoriasis.

Scratching and fasting: a study of pruritus and anorexia nervosa.

An association between pruritus and eating disorders has been suggested. This study examined changes in pruritus during weight restoration i … ion, serum androgens, oedema, dermatoses or compulsive washing. Scratching was manifest as 'scratch prurigo' in five cases. Where itching was present, it was experienced as severe. We discuss a variety of possible explanations, including psychopathology, endocrine factors, regional blood flow variation, eczema and the role of central opioid and serotonerg …

Epidermolysis bullosa pruriginosa: dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa with distinctive clinicopathological features.

We report a study of eight unrelated adult patients with a highly distinctive phenotype of dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa. It is characterized clinically by pruritus, lichenified or nodular prurigo-like lesions, violaceous linear scarring, occasional trauma-induced blistering, excoriations, milia, nail dystrophy and, in some cases, albopapuloid lesions on the trunk. The scarring is most evident on the limbs, particularly on the shins, with relative sparing elsewhere. Intact blisters are rarely seen. Physical signs were present at birth in three patients, but in the others skin manifestations…

Skin of Color in Pediatric Dermatology: A Cross-Sectional Retrospective Analysis Addressing Inclusive Diagnosis and Care.

Among 38 SOC patients with AD, lichenoid (31.6%), pityriasis alba (29.0%), prurigo nodularis (26.3%), and classic AD (13.2%) were the most frequent variants. Erythema was often subtle or absent. Dermatologic conditions and AD morphology differ between SOC and white children, highlighting the need for tailored diagnostic approaches …

On genetically predisposed skin, dry and hypersensitive, the immune factors and other types are implicated in determining the abnormal reactions to multiple endogenous and environmental factors. The diagnosis is clinical, generally obtained by a group of signs and symptoms known as the Hanifin and Rajka criteria. The patie
