OBJECTIVE: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common arrhythmia, which is also associated with mitral valve disease. Surgical ablation is still known to be an important procedure in restoring sinus rhythm (SR) concomitant with mitral valve surgery (MVS). In this study, we aimed to pres-ent our early- and mid-term result of AF cryoablation during robotic MVS.

PURPOSE: There is a growing interest in performing pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) with concomitant posterior wall isolation (PWI) using the cryoballoon for the treatment of patients with persistent atrial fibrillation (AF). In a series of 359 cryoballoon ablations with a complete registry of complications, clinically important hemoptysis requiring readmission was observed in 2 patients. High grade dysplasia and superficial carcinomas (with no extension under muscularis mucosae) can be indications for endoscopic treatments of Barrett oesophagus. When an endoscopic treatment is considered, a gastroscopy with use of acetic acid and planimetry and the confirmation of high-grade dysplasia by a new examination after PPI treatment and a pathologic second confirmation is needed. For high-grade dysplasia in focalised and visible lesions, an endoscopic resection by EMR or ESD should be proposed: it allows a more accurate pathologic examination and can be an effective curative treatment

A 12-year-old domestic short-haired cat was referred for evaluation of periocular masses. The tail had similar masses and was amputated previously by the referring veterinarian. On examination, multiple pigmented nodules, 3-15 mm in diameter, were found in the periocular skin, primarily involving the palpebral eyelid margin. A wedge excisional biopsy revealed small cuboidal cells forming multiple tubular and cystic structures indicative of apocrine cystadenomas, similar to apocrine hidrocystomas described in humans. The nodules were lanced followed by liquid nitrogen cryofreezing.
