Artificial intelligence iterative imaging reconstruction with low-dose CT scans for hepatic metastases.

Contrast-enhanced CT is commonly used in the evaluation of hepatic metastatic lesions. This prospective study aimed to assess the capability of artificial intelligence iterative reconstruction (AIIR) in low-dose CT for detection of hepatic metastases. Thirty-two patients with hepatic metastases were enrolled and underwent dual-phase CT scans in the venous phase. Each patient received a standard-dose (SD) scan (120 kVp, 180 mAs) followed by a reduced-dose (RD) scan (120 kVp, 30 mAs). All data were analyzed. Compared with the SD CT scan, the volume CT dose index (CTDIvol), dose length product (D

Transferability of radiomics models between deep learning and conventional CT reconstruction algorithms: A task-based assessment for stratifying acute pancreatitis severity.

BACKGROUND: Extensive evidence has demonstrated the superior image quality achieved through deep learning-based reconstruction algorithms. However, given their growing adoption in clinical imaging, the impact of these algorithms on radiomics model development warrants thorough investigation. PURPOSE: To investigate the transferability of radiomics models for acute pancreatitis (AP) severity stratification across CT images reconstructed with filtered back projection (FBP), adaptive statistical iterative reconstruction-Veo (ASIR-V), and deep learning image reconstruction (DLIR) algorithms. Deep learning-based motion correction: cardiac motion artifact and image quality improvements on chest CT.

PURPOSE: Since the clinical application of computed tomography (CT), cardiac and respiratory motion artifacts have caused decreased image quality and reduced detection or quantitative or qualitative evaluation of lung parenchymal or vascular abnormalities on chest CT with lung window settings in patients with pulmonary diseases. Recently, a deep learning (DL)-based motion correction algorithm (CLEAR Motion) has been developed and clinically used for chest CT. We hypothesized that CLEAR Motion can significantly reduce motion artifacts on chest CT examinations relative to conventional chest CT i

Nonlinear registration of serial coronary CT angiography (CCTA) for assessment of changes in atherosclerotic plaque.

PURPOSE: Coronary CT angiography (CCTA) is a high-resolution three-dimensional imaging technique for the evaluation of coronary arteries in suspected or confirmed coronary artery disease (CAD). Coregistration of serial CCTA scans would allow precise superimposition of images obtained at two different points in time, which could aid in recognition of subtle changes and precise monitoring of coronary plaque progression or regression. To this end, the authors aimed at developing a fully automatic nonlinear volume coregistration for longitudinal CCTA scan pairs. METHODS: The algorithm combines gl

Automated preoperative planning of femoral stem in total hip arthroplasty from 3D CT data: atlas-based approach and comparative study.

Atlas-based methods for automated preoperative planning of the femoral stem implant in total hip arthroplasty are described. Statistical atlases are constructed from a number of past preoperative plans prepared by experienced surgeons in order to represent the surgeon's expertise of the planning. Two types of atlases are considered. One is a statistical distance map atlas, which represents surgeon's preference of the contact pattern between the femoral canal (host bone) and stem (implant) surfaces. The other is an optimal reference plan, which is selected as the best representative plan expect
