The effects of zinc sulphate on gastric ulcer healing rate and mucosal mucus content of acetic acid-induced ulceration in rats have been assessed. An efficient electrochemical ipso-nitration of aryl borides has been developed. Using Fe(NO3)3·9H2O as the nitrating reagent and AcOH as a promoter, the reaction proceeds under mild conditions to afford nitroarenes within only 2 h. This protocol eliminates the need for stoichiometric oxidants, demonstrates broad functional group tolerance and scalability, and delivers nitroarenes in good to excellent yields. Mechanistic studies, including radical trapping and cyclic voltammetry experiments, support a nitro radical-involved pathway.
